[Q] Car stereo at home wiring.

Hello, What car stereo is it? Model? The memory may have a 5v rail. So the constant 5v on the psu could be used. And the 12v still be turned off by it's own switch. Martin

    Led flashlight question

Hahaha Bob, I just re-read my post. My, doesn't that word sound ancient!! But Brits are lazy. So one syllable words flow easier! I don't know why I used that out of date term as the OP used it 5 times!! Martin

    Microphone inside car.

Hi Andy, Ok, you have the first stage of powering the mic with resistor and capacitor. Try adding these 4 components to make a one transistor mic pre-amp. Use C2 and GRND for the RCA in. Martin

    12v to 6v

It is rather "over kill". If it's going in a car, mount it clear of all heating pipes and anything else that gets hot. Caps don't like heat. Martin

    12v to 6v

Hi tigmed, That shouldn't be a problem at all. It is usually a good idea to have higher voltage caps. The voltage rated is only the maximum rating. But physical size can sometimes hinder placement. Martin

    Led flashlight question

Hi Dean, The cicuitry is more than likely a DC to DC boost converter. Hence why it works with two batteries without the circuit. You may be able to replace the circuit with a single boost converter from Ebay. But I doubt you would be lucky to find one that fits your torch housing. Martin

Holiday Creations 1996 Santa Power Cord.

Hi Jamie, Adding to the above posts, what voltage is the bulb? It might give an indication of power requirements. Possibly even an AC adaptor.. EDIT: AC/AC and not the AC/DC you are trying.. Martin

Stereo keep on poping a fuse dont know why?

Hi Nathan, As John posted above, never replace with higher amperage fuse! What fuse is blowing? Look next to or under the fuse. There is writing on the pcb. F803 400ma, F11 2AT, F802 6.3AT and F801 6.3AT. That's if I have the correct picture of course! Martin

    LED power supply help

Hi Ian, I got really cheesed off editing images so I drew it. A few things first! This "should" give you 3 counts on, 2 counts off and 3 counts on etc. R1 and R2 wont / shouldn't be needed... The 2N2222 transistors "should" be fine as they are rated for an amp max. The supply is 850ma. The 6...

    Replacing triple a batteries

Good point Bob. My son's old pair did have two AAA's. His new ones (2 years) have 2 AAA's too. So I was blindly leading the blind as per usual!. But both the headphones sets have been working without a problem ever since. So I will say to the OP, follow Bob's advice and stick a 3 volt regulator...

Sony reel to reel tape recorder inquiry

:D Well, I will stay with my professional opinion and say it is a "series connected switch"....:D No matter what anybody else says it could be a "micro switch". It could be a secondary switch for "auto-Off" when tape ends or lid is put on..... So, I'll stick with my professional...
