Wiring pot as voltage divider across polarities

Can I ask a stupid question here? I cannot get my head around a VR having 0V in the centre. If it's 520k VR , wouldn't the centre point for the wiper be 260k? Sorry, that really confuses me. An explanation for an idiot would be good. Martin

Thinking about fully discharging (deep cycling) my power tool batteries to try and revive them

Hi Robert, My 29 year old nicads still work just fine. Although flight time does deminish. I have always charged fully three or four times a week from the last charge state and completely drained them by leaving my receiver on all night once or twice a week. Roberts radio

What model radio is it? I would be very surprised if you HAVE to run it on batteries! The adaptor should be to run it when you DON'T want it on batteries. It also sounds like the adaptor needs filtering. Let me have a read of the specific model first. Martin

    Roberts radio

Hi Graham, if the LCD is still lit after power off, that would explain draining the batteries. It seems like you may have to do some invasive surgery. The switch under the batteries sounds like an accident waiting to happen too. Does the LCD stay 'slightly' lit when on power adaptor with no...

Problems with a Lamp Project and Dimmer Module/Switch.

On a normal UK dimmer, the minimum loads are 30-40 watts. Sometimes 60 watts. And as a note. It really doesn't matter which half of the the phase you choose. They are both positive. Martin

    Roberts radio

Apart from the batteries as Davenn suggested. Are you testing this with wires all tangled up? Try a re-test with nice neat wiring going to the radio without other chargers or adapters connected. Martin
