Ok lets see how it goes. I better not see an antenna on the end of that circuit. Adam

    A few beginners questions

I have tried this with varying success, but it was a long time a go when NiCDs where expensive. Adam

    time delay

What about a Frequency to voltage convertor. This might allow you to detect the difference between slow movement from the wind and fast movement from the fish. Just a thought Adam

Look pretty good to me Mr super fast typer! That took you less than 30mins  God I am slow! Adam

    High Speed PCB Design

Just read the comments from the other guys on your schematic. I have given you some help on PCB design but that's about it. I am not going to help you design an illegal transmitter. Cheers Adam

What's a good voltage tolerance for a small power supply?

Yes most likely, but I wouldn't consider that a very good power supply. The voltage would only be stable for a given load, not really regulating the voltage very well by the sounds of it. Adam

    High Speed PCB Design

I put somthing together for you. I will look at you design in due course. Hope it's of some use. Cheers Adam Transmission Lines What is a transmission line? Well it’s basically any pair on conductors used to guide electromagnetic energy from one point to another. In a PCB the transmission line...

    High Speed PCB Design

Hello You got most of that right apart from the ground plane acting as a capacitor. You will need a power plane above this for this to work. But is does not make a very good capacitor so you still need the standard decoupling capacitors for each IC. The use of a microstrip or strip line is when...

Capacitor voltage as input to transformer?

Not a very nice one with one single pole filter, you will need more than one. You could do it with a simple LC filter which would give you a better sine wave output than a single RC, but you would need to modify the timings on your square wave. You would most likely need some drive circuitry...

Yep! that's how I understand it. Adam

How to find what value capacitor do you need?

Nice work as usual Kris. Wish I could type that fast. That would take me a whole evening to put down. Adam

Yes I also find this. Adam

How to find what value capacitor do you need?

Discharge time will be the same it's governed by R*C. But I know what you mean. Adam

How to find what value capacitor do you need?

Generally the voltage source would be a fixed d.c in this case and yes you could charge it with 1uA constant current which would take a very long time. We generally fix the voltage and add a resistor which charges up the capacitor and work out the time constant from there. RxC is one time...

How to find what value capacitor do you need?

Really 1 Amp for 1 second which would mean a 1R load. Are you sure it's not 36.8% left of both current and voltage after 1 second? Adam

Using Vref as the input to comparator module

Yes you can connect it straight in. It mentions this on the datasheet. Is this what you mean? The output of the reference generator may be connected to the RA2 pin if the TRISA<2> bit is set and the VROE bit, VRCON<6>, is set. Enabling the Voltage Reference module output onto the RA2 pin with...

picoPSU 120 switch on 12V rail

Um Yes I agree with Gryd3 seems strange 5 of them don't work. Edit: forget this, posted at same time as other replies.
