    Choosing an Opto Isolator

An MOV is what I would use for a solenoid or an electromagnet. It allows the release of the solenoid much faster than a diode because of the reduced power dissipation. I think it's what they use for large solenoids for automatic entry systems into buildings that use magnets to hold the door...

    Trophy points implementation?

Ian should receive the a world cup in my opinion. Such a quite chap I often wonder what's in it for him. I guess he like watching people help other people. Adam

    Sequential Timing Circuit

If you tell me what PIC you decide to use and what LEDs you are thinking of using I don't mind drawing up the circuit for you and supplying a parts list. You need to let me know if you want any switches also. Cheers Adam

    4-20mA to ohms coverter

The easiest option for standard 4-20 loop current measurement is to use a 250R resistor which will give you a range of 1-5 Volts. So each degree rise would be an extra 50 mV. I don't understand why your voltages are so precise at whole values of temperature. Adam

    Small SMT trim pot

I used to live in Bracknell, and I am sure they had one in Reading maybe try there, I wonder if they do store pick up like RS. I'll have alook Adam

    4-20mA to ohms coverter

So what are you doing? Connecting the resistor across the transmitter and then measuring the voltage? For something to know the resistance value of a resistor either the voltage or current to it must be fixed. And then either the voltage or current is measured to work out the resistor value. Do...

    Voltage Level Switch

Hi Dan It will probably be fine but I think it's good practice to have a pull down on the base of the transistor to ensure it is turned off fully 1/10th the base resistor value will be fine. The output of the comparator will not go to 0 V more like 0.3 V. Although it's not enough to turn the...

    4-20mA to ohms coverter

I get most of that apart from the panel recognises the resistance. How is your panel measuring these resistances or does it just see the voltage as an input? Does the convertor put out 160uA per degrees centigrade rise in temperature? Adam

    Finding Diptrace Components

Yes I do make my own most of the time. I have found so many problems with installed libs I prefer to make my own. Prevents a respin of a £400 PCB most of the time. But I will sometimes use the lib components and modify them and then double check. Adam

    time delay

Ok if you cant tell the difference between the bell curve response of wind then what about a strain gauge. That will tell you how much the rod is bending. Adam

How do you deal with the problem of wind which he mentions in his original post? Adam
