    LM311 maximum voltage question

The absolute maximum voltage quoted on the datasheet is ± 18V which means a single supply could be up to 36V. I wouldn't recommend running one at that level. For safety's sake, ±15 V or 30V single rail would be the max' you should consider running it at.

Power supply for little halogen light popped

Yes there is. A fusible resistor is designed to...……..fuse. An ordinary resistor is not. The fact that it may go open circuit is because of abuse in use and is not its intended function.

    Video signal amplifier.

You shouldn't need the 39R resistor in parallel with the cable otherwise it changes its effective impedance.

    another oven transformer question/problem

All transformers exhibit regulation. This may range from 1% to as much as 20% or more depending on the rating of the device. As an example, consider a transformer that is specified to 5% regulation. Its output voltage will vary by 5% from no load to full rated load so, a 20v transformer will...

    another oven transformer question/problem

Try removing the load from the power supply and then measure again. If the supply is rectified and smoothed, as it appears to be, then you should get 12 x 1.4 which = 16.8V. This does not take account of transformer regulation so it could be a fair bit higher possibly as much 10% or so. Also...

Do I need a heatsink? How big?

Have a look at the link below. It is for the "Fischer Elektronik" web site, a German company. It explains how to select a heatsink for your needs. There is also a short video on the site that takes you on a tour of their facility. I have been using their product for over 30 years good it is too...

Question preservation electronic device and evaporation muriatic acid

If you have a vapour flowing over your board it is inevitable that you will get a condensate settling on the surface.

Mildly alkaline solution (soapy water) should do the trick. Flush with clean filtered water afterwards then dry with a hair dryer on warm NOT hot.

Resistance power rating for this AC dimmer circuit?

I will add my voice to those urging extreme caution which amounts to DON'T. As advised, start with something that requires no more that 5 to 15V dc.

What is wrong in this power supply circuit? Pictures

Most switch mode power supplies require a load on at least one of the outputs to be able to regulate properly. In your instance, it seems to be the 5V output, which is quite common. Having had a quick squint at you schematic, I spotted "Dummy Load R56" that serves just that purpose. I suggest...

    Basic Pulse generation help

I think you sums a little off. To calculate the circumference you must multiply the diameter by PI. In you instance, your wheel circumference should be 26 x 3.142 which = 81.7".

Light bulbs as dummy load for Stereo ?

Offset detection circuits tend to be something like a window comparator (at least that's what I use). They have a largish value resistor on the input with an even larger capacitor connected from input to 0V to bypass the ac from the amp when it is up and running. If that cap' is below par, it...

Light bulbs as dummy load for Stereo ?

If all you want to do is protect your speaker from excessive dc from the amplifier output then, connect a largish capacitor in series with the speaker. BTW, 80mv offset is not unreasonable but, if it increases during usage then there is something wrong. There could be something wrong with your...
