Need Help in mosfet switching strobed LEDs

It's perplexing how a 3 terminal device can cause such confusion. It may be time for MiZZi to post photos.;) Chris

Need Help in mosfet switching strobed LEDs

You're not the only one lost here. I don't believe for a nanosecond that the FPQ27P06 is actually wired like that. I've taken note that some, maybe all of the datasheets present the PCH schematic symbol inverted. IE Source on the top Drain on the bottom. The SparkFun link to the FPQ27P06 that...

    Beginner project

Steve, you forgot to include making this compatible with one of the harshest environments on earth....blue water. That said I'm struggling to find the "Beginner Project" elements in this. Chris

Importance of low-ESR capacitors in dynamo rectification circuit?

I wouldn't loose a lot of sleep concerning low ESR in the application that you're describing. The demand for Low ESR diminishes greatly when current demands are low. Chris

    Need to test some fuses

Up until about the 70's it would have been that simple. Large high power (wire wound) Pots were easy to find. These days you'd have a better chance of digging up a Tyrannosaurus in your backyard. :D Chris

A means of closing a JFET switch with a postive voltage?

I'll go one level further than already stated. I won't operate any component over 90% of manufacturers maximums and for some even less. As for what to do with these 10 chips..? Considering the depth of the work you're already involved in I find it highly unlikely that you're journey into...

    Microphone Input to Square Wave

After much thought and consternation I present the attached simulation for perusal. As clearly indicated in the plots there is no AC present anywhere with the exception of VG1. I intentionally designed this with no caps or inductors that could muddle up this discussion. So from this day forward...

    Microphone Input to Square Wave

Who would have thought that we'd be debating over a term so basic as AC? I never thought its definition was ambiguous. Chris

    Microphone Input to Square Wave

40 years ago, at a lab I worked in, we called generic Y axis scope traces "perturbations". I'd rather use this term over the misnomer AC for instances like this. ;) Chris

    Microphone Input to Square Wave

But by definition can that really be termed AC? After all the current only varies in level but doesn't change polarity. Wouldn't "Pulsating DC" be more accurate? Yes... PICKY! :D Chris

    Db25 Panel Mount

Good point Ted but you're a bit late to the party. The panel is now finished, photos posted and we're now at the glowing admiration ("Ooo, Ahh, Nice Work!") stage of this topic. Chris

    Rest in Peace, Kris

Earlier in this thread I said (paraphrase) that we will undoubtedly have many topics pop up that Kris was deeply involved in. Somewhere down the road these threads will bring a smile to our face but I guess that's going to be a very long way off. Here's the most current posting of another member...

    hole for mini golf

Point well taken Harald, so let's ask him. Lego, do you want to build this from scratch? Keep in mind that we'll provide you with the schematic and parts list but you will be wiring this on a breadboard where you'll have to solder jumper wires from one solder pad to another. On the other hand...

    hole for mini golf

Before you purchase components please be aware that we are living in a period that permits purchasing complete modules much cheaper than you can build them from scratch. Ebay is loaded with examples of this. Here's an example of a module that can be used to stretch the LED on time as Dave...

Where's the two person, two keys system depicted in all those old nuke launch movies? :D Just kidding. Really nice work! Chris
