    i give up.. lm317 + 2n2222

Ha! At the starting gate I would have bet that the OP (cj) wanted to extend the max current limit of the 317 (which is doable using a pass transistor) but doing a bad job of explaining. Just goes to show that when one assumes .... Glad I'm not a gambler. :) Chris

    4 state illumination controller

The data sheet specs the Control Voltage Input "R" = 1.5KΩ. This is high enough to use simple (resistive) voltage dividers on the output of most chips. Unfortunately the 4017's outputs are spec'd in the uA range. This limitation doesn't disqualify it though because the outputs can drive emitter...

    Problem with picaxe 14m2

I just re-read this. This is not a message that would be fired by the Picaxe software. Heck, it's not a Windows message either. I think you need to clarify the origin of this error message. Chris

    Problem with picaxe 14m2

Is this a Picaxe or Windows message? Are you using an RS232 port or the AXE027 USB/RS232 converter cable? FYI: Sometimes when I plug in a common flash stick Windows says I need to format it. This stick has files on it so that ain't happening. When I get that message I unplug & re-plug it. This...

    4 state illumination controller

Then if he wants a state where all 4 outputs are low he'll need to use Decoded Outputs Q1 through Q5. Where Q5 is used for the Reset jumper to (Reset) Pin15. Yes, it can get confusing. The older you get the more confused you get! ;) Chris

    Voltage Amplifier Stage (VAS) design

Well yes, now you're posting data. Your first post didn't include anything.. No Vcc, or constant (Q15) current, etc. Chris

    4 state illumination controller

Oops, I miscounted. As AK said you want it to reset when the count reaches 5. Chris Edit: That would be Pin 10.

    4 state illumination controller

The datasheet shows "0"=Pin3 "1"=Pin2 "2"=Pin4 "3"=Pin7 So, I would think for a count of 4 it would be Pin7 to Reset (Pin15). Chris

    Voltage Amplifier Stage (VAS) design

Who is "we"? The schematic doesn't show us Vcc or any component values. I don't think anyone here can answer your question without more data. Chris

Trying to solve exercise in art of electronics involving transistors and diodes

Yes, your schematic doesn't have the LED anodes connected to Vcc as they should be. Chris

    Adjustable Schmitt Trigger Circuit Help

Here are two more versions of my original circuit. Notes are provided within the schematic images. Since these are spice simulations please follow SOP regarding Spice Vs Real World! ;) Chris

Trying to solve exercise in art of electronics involving transistors and diodes

Again! You guys are making me feel like I've got a serious hangover!! What's with the horizontally oriented schematics? Are you guys lying down on your side when you post them? Chris

Yes, I've placed a mea culpa in that post. Chris

Obtain the schematic circuit by pcb

My guess is that my colleagues have misunderstood you. I think you're asking if your PCB software or other software can convert a PCB to a schematic. Not that I know of. What you want to do is called "reverse engineering". For simple circuits it's not hard to do but takes skill and experience...

Trying to solve exercise in art of electronics involving transistors and diodes

Keep in mind that you cannot saturate a transistor when emitter resistors are used. EDIT: The above statement is grossly in error. See subsequent replies for further explanation. Also, please post your next schematic vertically oriented. My old eyes and neck will appreciate it greatly.:) Chris

    Adjustable Schmitt Trigger Circuit Help

Fortunately, my circuit should work regardless whether or not his signal swings below zero. BTW, it shouldn't have taken me the 2hrs it did but I was looking at this wrong and initially had D2 wired backwards, which didn't provide the isolation between Thres & Trig that I was trying to achieve...

    Adjustable Schmitt Trigger Circuit Help

I didn't immediately reply to this post but using the ubiquitous 555 tempted me right out of the gate. After fiddling around for about 2 hours spicing this I finally got it to work. The values of the resistors can be played with or changed to Pots by chris. Chris

    Spice Circuit

    (1) What spice software are you using? (2) You have no load in the drain or source legs. (3) You have no Vds (voltage) connection or Ids (current) path. (4) When circuit lines cross and connect in a schematic there should be a Dot node placed there or it will not be considered a connection. Chris
