Anyone made a sound card oscilloscope?

I'm glad you're enjoying your journey but I'm clueless as to what ILED is. Chris

What schematic? I watched the vid but I don't remember seeing any schematic. Chris

Anyone made a sound card oscilloscope?

Make a mental note of the day you found EP. Consider it to be most fortuitous. We have quite a cadre of very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly members. It's sad that you will never know our most shining star (Kris Blue) who was taken from us way to early in life. He had the patience of a Saint...

Anyone made a sound card oscilloscope?

Robert, I've never seen it described quite like that but yeah you're spot on! Good job! Chris

Anyone made a sound card oscilloscope?

Adam, I wouldn't loose sleep over it. He who never errs most assuredly never commits to anything. :p Chris

Anyone made a sound card oscilloscope?

Adam, I don't think that's going to help. The DC blocking cap in the PC is still a major (LF) limiting factor. After all, you can't increase capacitance by adding a cap in series with another cap. It does the inverse and reduces the total capacitance. EG two 1uF caps in series = .5uF. ;) Chris

    Hall effect sensor help

The author did a stellar job there but I'm lost over his copper vs aluminum wire comment. Regarding rotation direction: Listen to what the author said about the slight mechanical offset he accidentally built into his design. He states that it turned out to his advantage, as it enables the...

Replacing a 9Vdc relay with a transistor switch

Replacing a 9Vdc relay with a transistor switch

You're correct in assuming that this is not what you want. I think the SSR that Alec mentioned is the rout you should be taking. Chris

Anyone made a sound card oscilloscope?

Robert, take a look at the spice simulation I provided for you. It's comprised of a square wave signal source and an RC coupling network that will look much like the coupling network (but not exactly) on the MIC input circuit of your PC. The first plot is generated using a 1Hz square wave, 0...

Anyone made a sound card oscilloscope?

Exactly Adam. Looking at the scope trace it appears his Aduino freq is 1Hz. This freq is far too low to faithfully AC couple a square wave signal to the sound card. It might be prudent to explain the limitations of a Sound Card Scope because they are many. This is an entry level (home...

rewire vsr drill for home project

The forward/reverse switch is most likely a DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw) switch. Also less commonly known (in the US) as a Changeover Switch. The speed control is simply a Potentiometer but the slider type instead of the round (turn knob) type your familiar with. Since you said the drill...

need a switch that will deactivate with man overboard

My guess is that you meant to say "Some reasonable distance from the throttle". I'm not sure if that's a good idea either but In any case we had good fun! :p BTW: You can ask anyone here on EP and they will assure you that I NEVER make missteaks!! ... EVER!!!! :D Chris

need a switch that will deactivate with man overboard

Well, "unreasonable distance from the boat" implies the pilot is not on board. If the pilot is not on board then any distance is unreasonable. Or is hanging off the gunnels OK? After all, he's not that far from being on board. :D Here's hoping you take this with the humor that was intended. I...

need a switch that will deactivate with man overboard

I bought this Electronic Bike Horn for my bike. While I don't consider the horn itself to be water proof the horn's thumb switch is. You can see the details of the thumb switch in the photos. It's completely molded in rubber on the end of the coiled cable. It would probably mount to your...

    Protection diode melted and burnt

Guys, I want to thank you all for your input on this. I guess the guesses will have to suffice. Actually, since we're a scientific forum I think that I should restate that as an educated hypothesis. :) Dave, I'm very sorry to hear that. I hate being bugged when I'm ill. Get well soon. Chris
