    Wireless Voltmeter probes?

Hi Bob, Thanks for the welcome back. Chris

Trying To Cheat The Laws Of Physics . . . Again. Multi Voltage Power Supply

Dave, you may have posted photos of yourself before that I've missed but it's good to put a face on you. BTW, is it an optical illusion or is that dish pointing at the ground? Err... ground wave? :D Chris

    Wireless Voltmeter probes?

Bob, I thought I understood your point but now I see I didn't. Yes, Roger that. Chris

    Wireless Voltmeter probes?

Bob, Perhaps I shouldn't have used the term "probes". Whether or not there's physical probes voltage is measured between two points. As in spice simulators voltage pins are measuring from ground reference; while voltmeter probes can measure between any two nodes.

Trying To Cheat The Laws Of Physics . . . Again. Multi Voltage Power Supply

Every now and then I read about guys who had had hobbies while serving their hitch. It's a real head scratcher for me because free time in my world was little to none. The only hobbies that I and any of my buddies had was drinking and working hard to qualify as tour guides of red light...

    Wireless Voltmeter probes?

I'm not sure what you mean by "wireless probes". If you're asking if a voltage measurement can be transmitted and read by a remote receiver then the answer is absolutely yes. As for "single probe" measurement .... Not on this world or for that matter, not in Space either.

Trying To Cheat The Laws Of Physics . . . Again. Multi Voltage Power Supply

Ha, it very well could be that my memory has failed me again. It could be that those ARRL specs were the same in the 60's. My wife tells me that the only part of our 41 year marriage that I remember correctly was the day we met! :D Chris WA2ERQ

Trying To Cheat The Laws Of Physics . . . Again. Multi Voltage Power Supply

Maybe things have changed but back in the day QRP was only 1W. Not much current demand there. Back then multitap xfmrs were easy to find. The 1st Cav is a great old outfit. I served some brief TDY with them in1966 while participating in the S.E. Asia War Games..;) Chris

Sarge, you didn't say what your current requirements are but next time check out this supplier. http://www.mpja.com/Transformers-Power/products/45/ BTW, is that a 1st Cav patch on your sleeve? Chris

    WDTV LIVE PLUS

Anyone using this? I use one along with a SiliconDust (HDHR4-2US) network tuner to pipe OTA TV over my home network. The system works well but the WDTV Live Plus lacks (integral) DVR capabilities to pause, playback, etc. Since the WDTV does have 3 USB ports I'm curious if there's any any third...

Is there any way to fix transistor voltage drop?

Is there any way to fix transistor voltage drop?

It's been so long that I forgot how much fun it was deciphering member's mystery circuits. In earlier posts you eluded to your LDR circuit switching on multiple classified devices. I assume simultaneously by simply momentarily pulling a control port low on unidentified devices. If that's the...

Is there any way to fix transistor voltage drop?

Let's not loose sight of simplicity here. Electromechanical Relays are natural Schmitt Triggers in that they have inherent hysteresis. Their pull-in voltage/current is always higher than their dropout voltage/current. Chris

    Uploading Schematic In Firefox

It's been a while since my last post. The forum's layout has changed and I'm now using Firefox. I aborted a post because when I clicked "Upload File" nothing happens! What gives? Chris

    Series/Parallel resonant circuit problem.

It's always good practice to include a schematic with your post. This minimizes misinterpreting a question. Chris

Why does my op amp sink/source current?

No, you can't do that as that configuration would be a source follower. The FET will not saturate causing it to fry in short order. You would be better advised to add a switch arrangement from the 15V to the LED's anode. Chris EDIT: I just re-read the reply. If we're talking about connecting...

    Alarm reset timer

Kris, it's been a while since I revisited this thread, so I may be totally all wet here. As I understand it Q1 turns on immediately when power is applied. This in turn keeps Q2's Gate low and K1 off while C3 is charging. How about adding a second time delay cap and bleeder R between the Gate of...

Does Your Wiring-Soldering Look Like This?

Back when Heathkit was at its pinical I had a young friend that landed his first position as a repair tech at one of the few stores that Heathkit had scattered around the US. I stopped by one day and got a look at what being a Heathkit repair tech was like. I expected that the majority of the...
