idea for creating Touch sensitive wire strip like variable resistor

A bunch of them here. http://discovercircuits.com/C/capacitance-sw.htm Chris

idea for creating Touch sensitive wire strip like variable resistor

That's partially true. One leg can be commited to ground leaving only one conductor as the capacitive pickup. I think it might be prone to false triggering though. Chris

    LED Power on Indicator

This is toooooo weird. This topic was solved by Bob with only one (1) reply! Is this an EP record book moment? Chris

Why I want my old world back!

Time means very little to me,.. with the exception of how much time I have left on this Earth. That said, we are a tech forum so here's some electronics/machinist/physics porn for ya. Note: I don't claim to unterstand any of this but we have a whole generation, maybe generations that will read...

    variable motor speed with override

After further investigation I downloaded the .pdf for this model kit. http://www.canakit.com/30a-motor-speed-controller-pwm.html It appears to be a kit only in the sense that it doesn't come supplied in a case. This board comes wired as shown. The pdf was specific about it being Low Side...

    variable motor speed with override

Here's the problem with your schematic. We don't no if the controller you're looking at is High or Low Side switching. Perhaps other forum members will know if this issue has been standardized. I would guess that it's Low Side switching. If so your schematic would be incorrect. Another issue is...

How to not hear Mylie Cyrus when I am playing guitar?

That's not why I enclose vaccum tube elements in a circle. I do it because that was standarized symbol. Besides,.. how are you going to maintain a vacuum without it! :p Chris

    Photointerrupter latching encoder?

Steve, nice work. I recognize it as a bar napkin schematic but how did you get the wrinkles and beer stains out? :D Chris

    Power supply circuit part overheating

You can also employ a Pass Transistor. It will regulate higher currents than a basic resistor + zener circuit. Scroll down to the schematic labeled "Simple emitter follower series pass regulator "...

    Alternating led flasher 555 timer?

Reluctance? That adjective is too forgiving. I've begged some of our members and provided links to the pertinent sections. They would reply with total dismissal. As though I never mentioned it! I'd reply with asking if they did as I asked but their next reply would be another question and it...

Welcome to Electronics Point. We are always happy to help but we speak schematic here. Please post yours. ;) Chris

    LC meter accuracy

Sure I'm interested. It isn't every day that I see specs that resolve down to .01pF and .001uH. Chris

How to not hear Mylie Cyrus when I am playing guitar?

Oddly, for me that is, nano isn't new. I've been using and seeing it for time (nS) measurement as long as I can remember. Just not for caps. Hey, there was a time when I wouldn't draw a transistor without enclosing it in a circle. It was a hold over from my vacuum tube years. Now where...

    LC meter accuracy

Wow Steve, I'm swallowing hard accepting their stated inductance range! Can it really measure down to .001uH??? Even with short leads as shown I'm very sceptical Chris Edit: Yeah, I see what you're saying now. They're also claiming .01pF!!!

My future automated industrial system (gathering some ideas )

If they sell it as a kit you can bet it comes with a schematic. Besides, one of those PWM controllers might be just what you need for that mix master in your other thread. Chris

    variable motor speed with override

I finally found the link. It was posted by our new member (really, really old guy) elebis, also known as Ed. This is cool stuff! You can thank him. ;) http://www.canakit.com/ Chris

My future automated industrial system (gathering some ideas )

Ed that's it!!!! I'm involved in another thread where the OP is desirous of motor speed control for a Mini-Mill. He posted a link to the Amazon PWM module he was thinking of buying. I told him that he'd be better off with a kit because he has additional control requirements. A kit would provide...

How to not hear Mylie Cyrus when I am playing guitar?

Honestly, I never used nF until I started using Tina. That's because when I type .1uf it automatically converts it to 100nF. I prefer the former because it takes up less real estate and because of the old dogs - new tricks thing. :p Chris

How to not hear Mylie Cyrus when I am playing guitar?

I stumbled in here while looking for something else. Fortunately when I saw Detro's name I prepared myself with tight, multi-layers of duct tape securing my cranium from flying fragments. Anyway, I know we're long past this part of the thread but am I the only one that remembers when we...
