LED strobe circuit needs more current

Sorry to hear you're without power. Modern man is no longer equipped to live without it. Which is why I've always had a deep respect for country folk. Chris Edit: As CC said, my circuit produces a square wave. Actually, and to be more precise, it produces a repetitive brief pulse to mimic...

    Is Differential Amplifier badly inaccurate?

Thanks for posting the pdf. You haven't given specifics of your inaccuracies so I don't know what they are. I also don't know why you chose an oddball value for Rs. Try simulating this. The Diode (D1) is used to greatly improve linearity when the output is near ground (0V). Chris

    Is Differential Amplifier badly inaccurate?

I just simulated your amplifier with an LM358. I used a 100mΩ for Rsens and gave the OpAmp a gain of 10 using 1KΩ input for Rin and 10KΩ for Rfb. I found it to track fairly well except where the OpAmp output is near zero but I would expect that. The closer the output is to the rails the poorer...

    Is Differential Amplifier badly inaccurate?

I suspect what's happening here is OpAmp overdrive but I can't be sure because I can't read the component values on your print. Please do me a favor and repost your schematic with larger font for the component values. Currently, the only things I'm able to read are your notations. Chris

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

If you can't replace the spark plug wires then look for carbon spark suppressor adapters. They connect in series with the spark wires. They're probably not as effective as carbon spark wires but they're better than nothing at all. Chris

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

That will prove to be an exercise in futility. The wires are effectively antennae. The longer they are the more crap it's going to pick up. Worst yet, ground returns to the frame should be as short as possible. By the way, why do they call flashers "Winker Relays"? Winker I get but nothing...

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

Ah, so they still exist. Here's some enclosures and yes, I'd use shielded pairs in and out of it. http://www.mpja.com/Die-Cast-Aluminum-Boxes/products/245/ Chris

LED strobe circuit needs more current

You began this thread wanting to strobe a single high current LED with a simple circuit. I took the time to give you this a few posts back but you didn't acknowledge it. Perhaps Sandy caused you to miss it. Chris

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

They won't hurt. Don't know if they're still available but ignition and alternator noise suppression kits were once available. I think the spark plug wires were resistive. They were popular with hams. Chris

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

The guilty party is looking more like spark noise. Please post some good photos of the board itself, component and solder side. Photos of the unit while on the bike might be useful too. You may want to start thinking about ferrite clams too.,,More straws to grab at! Chris

In that case, wouldn't it be advisable to simply disconnect it for a go- no go test before wiring in relays? If it works, great, but if it doesn't he'll save a lot of effort. Chris

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

No, I don't think you're overlooking anything. It just seems like such a back door approach to solving this. Before you go through all that rewiring it might be advisable to test power the circuit from a separate 6V battery or wall wart. If the problem persists it's most likely spark noise...

    Is Differential Amplifier badly inaccurate?

Admittedly my old eyes can't read the component values on that schematic but have you considered moving Rsens to the ground return of the source? You won't need differential input if you relocate it there. Chris

    diode for collapsing magnetic field

I was only concerned with keeping the technical data within the thread. It would be like watching a 3 hr movie on the Sat only to loose the last 15 minutes to thunderstorm fade. ;) Chris

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

You've certainly done a good job of trying to isolate the problem. You're consistently one step ahead of me. ;) Have you tried connecting both the + & - input of the boost converter directly to the battery? Grabb'n at straws. Chris

    Wind Generator

I didn't want to snip any of this because it made me realize how woefully LED deficient I am. I've been using LEDs since their inception but only as indicators. As a lighting source, my knowledge of available LEDs and their lighting characteristics is that of a NUBE! Chris

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

I've been thinking about it too. Early in the thread you said that the boost converter is connected to the battery through a bridge that you added. Long shot, but have you tried eliminating the bridge? A storage battery is a very low impedance device that filters garbage well close to its...
