LED to light when battery drops below 3.5V

Justin, make sure you select the correct one. There were so many listed that I just may have missed one that will drive a LED directly. I downloaded the MAX6412-MAX6420.pdf but the output sink current was only as follows. The odds are that I'm looking at the wrong model though. VCC ≥ 1.0V...

    Battery Back-Up Systems

I'd advise you to check the specs on your UPS. They come in vastly varying capacities. I doubt that one made for a single PC is up to the task of driving a 9A pump motor. The start current can be over twice its run current. It's also a highly reactive load. Chris

    1N400x Diode Heat Sink

CC, it's clever, simple, effective and best of all it gave you some machine shop time. I imagine epoxy would work well too. Thanks for sharing, Chris

    My free energy generator

It's astounding how many gullible drones are out there. So what do you hope to accomplish with this post? ...A strictly rhetorical question because I doubt you're going to reply. Chris

    Beards and Hurricanes

Yeh, it would seem a no brainer. Not in their defense they were warned a full week or more that this would be a massive storm. The weather stations said that arctic air was moving down from Canada and when Francis met it they predicted a "Frankenstorm"! When it came ashore in New Jersey, New...

    Beards and Hurricanes

From the news coverage that I've seen, read and heard it's obvious to me that New York and New Jersey coastal residents have become far to complacent. There seemed to be no concept, or rather no belief that their infrastructure could ever fail. All the common things that we keep on hand or prep...

    Beards and Hurricanes

Let's see.. About 3 weeks ago the snow bird car carriers began to appear, as they always do when the temperatures up north begin to drop. In that 3 week period our population instantly exploded. These fair weather residents always bear gifts when they return. They include colds, flu and every...

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

First off, the last thing I want to do is disable my early warning system. Secondly, this assumes that the lightning's signal enters the radio at a point other than the antenna. Actually and depending how Strong the signal is, it enters via the antenna, IF, etc. A lightning discharge creates...

    Motorcycle Flasher Issue

Not to beat the subject to death, but it's worth noting that Marconi's transmitter was in fact a spark transmitter. I listen to AM radio because I'm a political hound. I know when a thunderstorm is approaching long before it's on top of me. I also know when my neighbor cranks up his Harley. ;)...

    Beards and Hurricanes

I guess it's a matter of mindset. In the summer months we can loose power anytime from daily afternoon thunderstorms that can and do produce hurricane force wind gusts. I'm never without a stock of D, C, AA and AAA batteries. Chris

    Is Differential Amplifier badly inaccurate?

Who are "they" and what "hoax" are you talking about? I don't believe that my circuit will behave much differently in the real world. It may interest you to know that an OpAmp, whether it's configured differentially or not, is referenced to circuit ground. Take my circuit for instance. The...

Hello Justin, I just want you to know that I'm not ignoring you. It's just that in between helping out in other topics I've been absorbing the data in the Plessey pdf's and your schematic. When I think I have something informative to say or question to ask I'll post it. Chris
