    uln2003 data sheet question.

Honestly, only 50% of what we do here is actually giving advice, guidance and schematics. The other 50% of the time is spent thinking... "What the hell did he say?!?!". Chris

    Scratchbuilding an AM receiver--maybe a replica TR-1?

Rf & IF transformers and coils are still available from many sources. It's true that technology has changed but radios still use them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/J-Tran-455-kHz-IF-Transformers-1950s-60s-Vintage-Tube-Radio-Parts-Homebrew-Ham-/300778672134?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4607ce5006...

I too think he's asking for a current limiter. Anyone ever wonder why we spend better than 50% of our time playing mind readers? Chris

I've much to say too but just got home from the annual engineering department picnic and I'm toasted! Chris

    Sweat monitor using electrodes.

Justin, I don't know whether to call you a radical impulsive or just plain nuts! How can you determine what a good scope is from reviews? In order for reviews to be meaningful you have to understand the information you're reading. It was only two days ago when you didn't know what an...

    Valve (tube) amplifier schematic help

The 100nF cap is a decoupling cap that should be placed close to the supply side of the plate resistors. There's no good reason to omit it. They're dirt cheap! Chris

Arcade 110v strobe flasher circuit help

I don't like pointing people to other forums but I found this while googling. Do you think you could handle building a tailored version of this? I don't want to spend the time redrawing it for your needs unless you're absolutely sure you can handle it...

    Sweat monitor using electrodes.

Justin, an EKG is a receiver. It can't induce a heart attack. It measures small electric signals generated by the body. It doesn't pass its own current source through the body. The scope looks nice but we need input from other members. I told you that I'm still stuck in the world of analog...

    Sweat monitor using electrodes.

Perhaps the forum Gods can split this thread where it switches tracks and give this siding a new title. I read through the information in both links. http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/pb-38-j-worst-weapon-kid-bring-school-215000284.html They're both quite informative and thorough. The...

Wingnut, you've presented a persuasive argument. Perhaps he'll be honest enough to tell us if this is high school, vocational, or other. Yes, I totally agree that I wouldn't expect semiconductor theory to be taught in high school. Hell, we're so dumbed down in the US that most schools have...

Justin before I comment on your circuit I'd like to read the original article but the link to the fingertip heart rate monitor is broken. Please post it again. Oh... No one has to guess when I'm annoyed. I'm the most overt guy you'll ever meet. :p Thanks, Chris

Good news! Yes it does. This is a totally different animal than I thought you had. I thought you bought a naked Xenon bulb! Let me see what I can work up for you. Other members will probably chime in too. Chris

    Measure water in soil

It's impossible for any of us to know everything. That said, a substantial part of any science is having the ability to do research. With Internet availability a student can be anywhere on this earth and never have to walk to the library. If an old fart like me can do it then I fully expect a...

    Measure water in soil

This is your crusade... "Stop the culling of Cape Town's baboons! " This is my crusade.. "Please stop dumbing down todays students!" This why I usually stay clear of this section of the forum. The policy is to not do a student's homework for them, yet it happens far too often. Todays...

    Sweat monitor using electrodes.

A scope has multiple functions but it's primarily used to plot voltage vs time. It can see things that a multimeter can't. A scope is the most valuable instrument found on any test bench. When hospital staff are looking at a heart monitor they're actually looking at a scope that's dedicated and...

Uh, not quite that simple. The design requirements to flash two incandescent or LED lamps randomly wouldn't look anything like an Xenon circuit doing the same thing.
