    MOSFET IRF540A circuit.

Justin, did you understand these test conditions? Chris EDIT: Better yet, don't connect any LEDs to the Axe.

Kris, this explains an awful lot. When the wife and I are surfing though the satellite TV menu for a movie to watch we flip a coin if it's Australian. Our first experience with Australian movies was a flick called 'Picnic At Hanging Rock' made in 1975. This movie was our intro into the...

Kris, I don't think I could hold up against the competition. ;) Chris

    555 timer reverse polarity circuit

Quieter and more elegant than a relay but a discrete H Bridge is going require more drive circuitry. Edit: Oops I see he has a bipolarity supply. Won't need an H Bridge for that but it's going to hard to make the circuit simpler than a DPDT relay.

    New member, project help

Sometimes I'm too impulsive. I was about to sketch up a sensor/switch-over circuit. Makes no sense at all though. ;)

    AC Electromagnet

I couldn't help but chuckle when reading the 1 meter capability. The power supply and the magnet would be three times larger than the OP and I think that's a conservative estimate.

    The newbie's secret circuits circus

Steve, considering the great title you gave this topic (brought tears to my eyes) I thought I'd submit the following attachment. I created this jewel about a year ago in response to a greenie nube on another forum. He had just spent some time reading drivel on one of those over unity sites and...

Then there's this scinerio... The OP told his boss that he can work out a fix for a device they use. A few days later, after not getting the results he expected, he gets desperate and posts "HELP!", At the same time it's a company project so he fears divulging anything that might get back to his...

Please explain the setup and conditions for those measurments.

This is because nubes get this wacky idea that they think they're inventing something new and if they post the details it's going to be stolen. News flash.... Not probable!

    MOTOR SPEED CONTROL

Please don't tell anyone that asks you a question that they need not be concerned about it. Just because you're using a FET doesn't mean that we don't need that information. The FET you're using is rated at Vdss(MAX)=55V. Your motor and power supply are operating at 50V! This is the wrong...

    Chronograph for bullets

If you decide to go the uC rout it's going to look very much like this. You appear to be very bright and I suspect you would have no trouble at all learning Picaxe Basic. ;) I know exactly what you're thinking... "OMG! That looks soooo simple!" Well, yes it does and yes it is. One caveat...

    MOTOR SPEED CONTROL

Yes Steve, I understand that. I thought that the last link I posted might have an input for that. The data on that page didn't define that though. If he wants to roll his own I could draw a Picaxe option for him but I need more info from him, including motor current..

    Chronograph for bullets

If this concept works reliably it will also have the advantage of being reusable. All it would take is a sharp hollow hole punch and a backer board to cut away any ragged holes made by the bullets. Your circuit could have a continuity function to insure that any shorts have been cut away. I...

Wouldn't aluminum foil be cheaper? Make a cardboard or paper (insulator) sandwich. When the bullet pierces the sandwich it will close a circuit between the two aluminum sheets. Chris

    MOTOR SPEED CONTROL

This looks like it would fill the bill. It looks like something I'd use on my lathes and bandsaw if they were DC motors. http://jnky.en.alibaba.com/product/315891754-200230658/DC_MOTOR_SPEED_GOVERNOR.html

I started to sketch a schematic centered around 555 technology but stopped because the complexity and would never match the simplicity and elegance of a microcontroller. BTW, there are many off the shelf PWM controllers available. Here's just one...
