Political argument (Yeah, this is going to end well)

Judging by shrtrnd's other posts I think I can safely assume he was just being facetious. ;) Btw, that's why I never joined the VFW. Chris

Stop a fan form being a generator

Sorry, but I don't believe so.

    on/off light switch/controller

Telling us that it's a 12V motor isn't telling us much. A 12V motor can be anything from a small computer fan motor that draws a few milliamps to a truck starter motor that pulls 400Amps. Please be more specific.

Stop a fan form being a generator

I'm guessing that the fan is not wired to a true switched (+) rail or neg (far less likely) is not connected to GND. Nothing else make sense. These fans are milliwatters. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the + lead is connected to a sensor circuit of some sort, yet it still runs. Try wiring...

    DC-DC convertor

Are you sure you want to build it? They're very inexpensive.

    on/off light switch/controller

Not that I know of. In the old days almost no one used the term LDR but Photocell was common. We now have too many optical devices to use a generic term like that. For an LDR it was probably a misnomer anyway. The LDR predates solid state. BTW, I edited that post to include LDR.

    on/off light switch/controller

Doable but we need the specs on your motor...Operating Voltage and Current. We also need the part number of your photocell and emitter. Edit: The term "Photocell" is often misused. There are Photo-Resistors (Light Dependent Resistor (LDR)), Photo-Diodes, Photo-Transistors and there are...

Increasing motor's RPM + Torque with stronger magnetic fields?

Yes, I think I know where this track eventually goes. All aboard for the O/U Express!

Help! High current DC welding bridge rectifier

    Probably too expensive but.. http://www.weldmart.com/MILLER%20POWER%20DIODE%20PAGE%20MST.htm

Help! High current DC welding bridge rectifier

Have you investigated welding forums? Specialized forums like that will have a knowledge base of suppliers and components . You won't be the first welder that's wanted to do this. ;)

    invention/adapter

Dito to this! Is this 100% solid state or does it incorporate a relay?

    Relay voltage spikes

We like to keep our threads nice and tidy, so perhaps you could clarify that this is, in fact, a DC relay coil. You made no mention of a DC power supply, just the transformer.

Digital time zone clock/temprature sensor project

CC, got a link to it? I'm sure many of us would find it fascinating. Chris

Digital time zone clock/temprature sensor project

You don't have to know what's inside. You only have to know how to deal with inputs and outputs. That's why they put it all in a chip in the first place.:D

    Amplifier circuit for speakers

I have nothing against kits. I was a big fan of Heathkit and still own many of my first kits. My statement is based on experience from teaching an industrial electronics course. Structure from the ground up provides building blocks and a strong foundation to build upon.

Digital time zone clock/temprature sensor project

This statement is 180 deg out of phase. uCs simplify circuitry, not complicate them.

    Amplifier circuit for speakers

I'm surprised but I guess I shouldn't be. I would have thought that after CC's link to the pinout you'd have been thrilled to be able to not butcher a Bose design for an unquestionably inferior home brew. IMHO, you're starting your electronics education backward. If you're seriously...

grease gun using dc motor - current switch

Please clarify something for me. The object of this project is to interrupt power to the motor when back pressure becomes excessive and causes corresponding excessive motor current. How long the power is interrupted is determined by the RC time constant of the 555. The time constant on the...

Political argument (Yeah, this is going to end well)

Let's make something clear here. Hippies, who are now Progressives, only rant about "unconstitutional wars" when it's not their war. Since the boy King took office there hasn't been a peep out of them. Chris
