    Maybe a $30 rc tx/rx with a servo glued to the case to operate the button. (cheap alternative) Other is a dedicated transmitter /receiver module with solid state switching which would need mods to the board and enough knowledge to do so. Downside is any warranty would go out the window.

    Firstly, outgoing circuits will only draw what current they require, size of the transformer (large) has no bearing on this. Blowing diodes or bridges implies you either have it connected incorrectly or the diodes were already blown or shorted out or incorrect voltage etc.
