Looking for best software to convert DWG to PDF for less than $75. I need
to be able to zoom and crop large DWG drawings into smaller PDF. I already
have Acrobat 7.

Check to see if you have an option in your printer screen(s) to print the
file to a file instead of to the printer. When I do that, the file it
creates is a pdf.

Maybe I should have stated that I have no way to view a DWG file, so I
need a DWG file viewer that can zoom and crop then print to PDF.

I did find this. It is free and appears to allow zooming in and out.
Not sure about cropping.

I had thought CADint had a free viewer, but I'm not willing to go
through the registration process required, it appears, to even find
out.

PaintShopPro will open and process DWG. Since you have Acrobat, then
just "print" to a PDF.

I use a PDF driver from the link below. Install it and you can
basically print from any application directly to a PDF file (including
AutoCAD). You'll have to install both the "writer" and "converter". The
software is open source, so it's free.

PaintShopPro will open and process DWG. Since you have Acrobat, then
just "print" to a PDF.

Don't do that. You will end up with a bitmap file in stead of a nice
vector file. Any free viewer that can print can use Acrobat Distiller
that comes with Acrobat to generate a PDF.

PDF995. I think it's free - I got mine from the PHB.

When you install it, it shows up on your "Printers" menu, and you just
print to it to get a PDF.

It works with anything that can print to a printer.

Get the free viewer put out by AutoDesk (the Autocad folks). DWG
TrueView might be the answer. I haven't used it, but the blurb says
you can view and plot DWG and DXF files. Hope you have a fast line as
it's a 110 MB download

iv_formats.zip plugin pack) that allows you to open DWG, DXF, and

The program used to print the information should not convert it to
bitmap format. Otherwise one ends up with a bitmap PDF in stead
of a vector PDF. The quality of PDFs generated via a "print" interface
are of very low to reasonable quality. To get PDFs suitable for the
printing process, one need to use a program such as CorelDRAW
that can directly export high quality PDFs. The quality difference of
a PDF exported directly from CorelDRAW, and one generated via
the "printing" method is HUGE.

Well Mark, in my scorebook you have the highest batting average in our
league. You don't step to the plate too often but when you do you take a
great swing with many hits. You will not qualify for MVP (Most Valuable
Poster) this year because of your limited at bats but in a pressure
situation with the bases loaded, your in my top ten.

I've done exactly this, and it's trivially easy to ignore the ads - just
ignore them like you ignore any ad - it's WAY worth the price!

settings to print to file--no you do not have to have the 'printer
device' attached, 3) print to the postscript printer and name the file
and place the file somewhere in the drivepath so that you can find it,
4) browse to find the file and rename to have a .ps extension, 5) open
it in Ghostview, 6) convert to PDF using the appropriate menu, 7) review
PDF document.

Download and install PDF995 from www.pdf995.com.

It installs as a printer... tell autocad to print to printer "PDF995".

Print "view" to print a section of a drawing into a PDF.
