hi all!
we generally talk about bits per second in digital transmission specially computer terminology.
does bandwidth have no meaning here?
shannons relation relates bandwidth to bit rate how does the relation comes?

iam not 100% sure but i know they both use the same equation. And if i rember they are usually the same value. i belive they are different in the way they are used.....like i said i belive this is right but it has been awhile sence i have used it..

no i mean does it make sense to say that my computer has say "B" Hz of bandwidth?

Bandwidth is generaly the total ammount of data being moved where as you are talking about the speed. Bandwidth is measured in bps, kbps, mbps, gbps... They are both obveously related.

The transmission capacity of an electronic pathway such as a  computer bus or computer channel. In a digital line, it is measured in bits per second or bytes per second. In an analog channel or in a digital channel that is wrapped in a carrier frequency, bandwidth is the difference between the highest and lowest frequencies and is measured in Hertz (kHz, MHz, GHz).

bit rate is the measurement of the bandwidth.
because it measures Number of bits/time not Distance / time

Shannons theorem gives the relation that means a xhannel digital with 20 Mhz bandwidth does not carry meaning

Does a bandwidth of say 10 MHz mean same as 10 MBps?
Does 10 Mhz have a meaning as such
