hello everyone,

So i got this audio interface, on which i had done some basic work like recapping, mostly replacing Jamicons and G-Luxon caps 220uf25v and 470uf25v, also trying out different 100uf16v caps near the dac itself(cs4398) on the dock + also replacing caps on the PCI card itself.

Quick links, straighfoward

Anyway, i had this thing working just fine, and these caps made quite a huge difference, specially after i replaced those G-Luxons.

I decided to try bridging filtering caps after the cs4398 and prior the JRC2068 opamp on output4 and it brought some minor positive aspects but nothing too drastic(snare sizzle more pleasant), just for a test i decided to do that same thing on the output3 on which i changed 100uf16v dac power cap with a different one(Elna/Nichicon). What happened after that is, all outputs from 1 to 4 and headphone out became very low, probably like 18db + also slightly distorted. (Bummer!!!)

I restored those bridged caps between cs4398 and the JRC2068 on the output3, but the problem is still active, resoldered everything but the problem is still upthere.

I started measuring opamps, dac and the fcpga itself to trace it and even tho opamps are recieving the proper voltage, they are outputing 0 on their test pins, also the dac itself on the pins 28 and 25 do not have the needed voltages, only 0.

Which tells me that it is probably in automute state of sorts.

Internals work, like DSP effects etc, but what i found is that i cannot use it to "clock" other interface thru S/PDIF from the PCI card like is used to, so i started looking and measuring the PCI card itself in search for the problems but i cannot find anything wrong.

The dock itself has test points for 1.8, 3.3, 5, 12v and every testpoint when powered measures correctly, but the output is still low and distorted. Mosfets and regulators test fine.

If i record the audio thru the audio ins or the preamps, the audio is fine, no problems at all, both sound and level wise.

There is nothing burnt, i´ve inspected it multiple times so far. Tried different drivers and on xp,w10 and w7, no help.

Thanks!

Check the Vref on the DAC. The cap change may have caused a short. If the Vref is zero then the output will be zero. Those are not easy to work on.

Can you please post a schematic on this site and not a link so we may help you.;)
