fishing wires -- best tone generator/sensor?

The discussion on wiring windows makes reminds me of a question I had:
I've heard about a technique for fishing wires from upper floors to
the basement, involving using a metal fish tape and a signal/tone
generator on the tape. Then you put run a tone detector along the wall
below to find the fish. Does anybody have a recommendation for the
best type of tone generator/detector to use for this?

I have used Progressive Electronics tone sets for years and they have
served me well. My present model is their 700-C.


Hmmmm that is funny. You have a present model but you do not install. Look
for the van with the blacked out windows. You will hang yourself in Florida
yet just as you did in Connecticut.
