The 2 meter was working fine when it was packed away. I pulled it out a few months before we moved and it wouldn't come on. Took it to a ham that was suggested to me for repair. He got it working but by the time I got it home it had quit again. After twice more trying to get a fix, it's now dead so I'm trying to research it myself with my equipment. The ham told me it was always working in his shop but would be DOA at home. I've checked the protection diode and it shows good. There's voltage inbound to the power board. I've checked all the capacitors on the main board and all showing good. I can't find any in line fuse inside the radio. I'm leaning toward maybe a power transistor. The only service manual I've been able to find has terrible schematics in it so having something to help trace circuits and boards is no good. Anybody have any suggestions other than a trash can? I don't want to give up on this old radio. We have a lot of hours together and I was going to set it up for packet radio use. Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you asked the ham what the issue was that he fixed?

Is your power supply ok? A PSU failure to deliver enough current will make it appear to be faulty.
