Hi

This all begs the question, just what does it take? I mean to convince
folk a new discovery works. Suppose I invented something much more
interesting than brighter LEDs, and wanted to sell the technology, how
would I best demonstrate it?

One way is to have the device tested by an independent laboratory,
such as ETL Semko, and then make the test results available to
potential investors. Their Web site is www.etlsemko.com, but it seems
to be down right now.

Disclaimer: I have no connection with or financial interest in ETL
Semko, but I have used their services in the past to evaluate new
lighting product concepts.

That's easy. For a new invention that's controversial, publish how
it works, teach others how to make it, and let it be independently
verified. If proprietary protection is desired, apply for a patent
before publishing elsewhere. Keep in mind a patent is a disclosure
to the public with sufficient teaching to enable one skilled in the
art to replicate the invention.

Thanks,
- Win

First, apply for a patent. This is an important step because not only will
it afford you protection should there be interest in your invention, it
will also (during the patent search phase that begins all such
applications) tell you if you're the first to think of it and if you have
a protectable invention.

Then, have your device independently tested by a recognised and reputable
lab(s) in whatever field is applicable. Mr. Lowrie, for instance, would
want to send his device to a lab like Calcoast-ITL in California, or any
of several others like it.

Dear Adam,

I'm flattered. However this site is statistically stacked and will not
produce an honest, reliable outcome...

The name: myth is (mis)leading

The page: is dark and difficult to read.

The voter: is prioritorised with the result that the author seeks at the
top.

The content: devoid but gracious.

The intent: dubious, smacks of jealosy.

The result: proves that my marketing modus is exemplary, emulateable and
sound. Have you read the book "Guerilla Marketing"?

So I have to thank you for your assistance, perhaps I should cut you in for
a share when I consummate a sale. ;-) That you are prepared to provide so
much help is astounding and although uninvited; better than ever I could
have hoped for in my wildest dreams.

It seems that my post in reply to Daniel Stern (Geez, the price of LED's (in
NZ)) is altruistic...He's gone quiet, all-of-a-sudden. Daniel, Daniel,
wherefore art thou, Daniel...LOL.

Best wishes
Peter Lowrie

IMHO We dont know for certain without more info, but the odds are
fairly strong against it, based on what we do have. There was no radio
button that really captured that.

If you have actually invented something real and worthwhile in the UK
you should patent it before you show it to anyone external. Once you
have the IP protected submitting it to an independent testing lab and
then press releases or showing it on Tomorrow's World would get you some
attention.

There are also venture capital folk around who look out for real
innovations to invest in. But count your fingers before and after
meeting them.

Trying to auction a pig in a poke on eBay doesn't quite hack it.

For amusement only. No prizes, no wagering. Its for fun not for funds.
The name: myth is (mis)leading

Actually want to cover some of the LED Myths there , the completely cold
light myth and the 90% efficient myth for instance.
Was stuck waiting with nothing but broadband access for amusement for couple
of hours yesterday. Part of the point about

www.led-myths.tk

is it cost nothing to put together apart from access to the internet. A .tk
forwarding domain costs absolutely nothing. It is easier to write, link and
remember.It also appears better than
www.duffhost.com/public/cheapskate/~user78 and its still free.

www.dot.tk

Believe the Tokelau Islands are more your end of the world.
The hosting service has less pop-ups than Geocities and Tripod and no forced
banners. The site is also assembled using the free templates and WYSIWYG page
editor.

www.freewebs.com

The polling module, guest map etc is a another free part from:

www.bravenet.com

The page: is dark and difficult to read.

Hmm, I kinda liked the template, but not by profession a graphic designer,
think you may indeed be right.I`ll try changing colours.
The voter: is prioritorised with the result that the author seeks at the
top.

Not at all , for amusement only. Market research for free.
The content: devoid but gracious.

The intent: dubious, smacks of jealosy.

Perhaps the name Led-Myths is provocative but as explained above it has a
wide brief.
The result: proves that my marketing modus is exemplary, emulateable and
sound. Have you read the book "Guerilla Marketing"?

Personally never believed that all publicity is good publicity.
My opinions on `guerilla` and `viral` marketing can be found in the
archives...
So I have to thank you for your assistance, perhaps I should cut you in for
a share when I consummate a sale. ;-) That you are prepared to provide so
much help is astounding and although uninvited; better than ever I could

Things that may either help or hinder the acceptance and growth of the
market for LED products are always of interest to me.
Please see above comment about publicity.
It seems that my post in reply to Daniel Stern (Geez, the price of LED's (in

I also believe that there is more aspects to this than Peter Lowrie and the
LED Accelerator, the best way to present a new development and how best to
protect it, this is what I meant about a more comprehensive reply. Will have
to return to this later.
