motion sensor help

I need help with building a motion sensor. Nothing fancy, just something simple that I can learn from. If anyone can tell me the parts that I need and how to build it, I would appreciate it. Or you could just point me in the direction of the nearest tutorial, that would be cool.

Using your suggestion of Motion  Sensor Theory. I found this, it has some intro to some theories and a schematic.
