An acquaintance overloaded his battery charger in start assist mode.
If anyone has a schematic or troubleshooting information, please
assist.

You don't need a schematic. Replace the rectifier.
Schumacher will sell you one cheap.

You're right. I don't NEED a schematic, but I'd like to have one. The
request is pro forma at the beginning of any troubleshooting or repair
task.

Schumacher has only offered repair service so far. They are reluctant
to provide parts. They also use some obscure and unmarked components
in their chargers.

We know which parts need to be replaced now: one of the diode packs
and a thermal overload protective device mounted on the transformer.
