Time means very little to me,.. with the exception of how much time I have left on this Earth. That said, we are a tech forum so here's some electronics/machinist/physics porn for ya.
Note: I don't claim to unterstand any of this but we have a whole generation, maybe generations that will read this and proclaim their genious because they read it! Yes, this is the new standard. You don't really have to comprehend anything. The mere fact that you read it makes you very high on "The Bell Curve".

I passed a disabled car on the shoulder of the road today. There was a young girl on her knees changing a flat while her boy friend, husband (?), whatever, stood there with his hands in his pockets!

He was promoting equality of the sexes.

edit: perhaps he was teaching her a valuable skill too!

Actually, there's validity in that statement. ;)

Here's another classic example of why my old world was so much better than this one. ..

Yesterday the wife and I were leaving the parking lot of a nature center that we cycle to nearly every day. As we're hooking around the rear of the parking area I see two park ranger cars entering from the road. The lead car races through the lot and stops abruptly in front of me. A young female ditz powers down her window to address me.. "Sir, are you aware that bike riding is illegal in in the preserve"? Me: "What in the world are you talking about? There's a bike rack at the entrance to the boardwalk"! Ditz: "Well you're not supposed to be riding on the boardwalk". Me: "What makes you think we were riding on the boardwalk"? Ditz: Well we've had a lot of reports of kids riding in there". Me: Missy, this thread bare shirt that I'm wearing is probably older than you are. Do I look like I'm sixteen"?! Ditz: "Sorry sir, we have to check. Have a nice day but remember, no riding on the boardwalk".

Fact is the world is getting dumber by the nanosecond! If this dip sh!t ever cuts me off again I'm calling the sheriff and lodging a complaint for reckless driving, harassment and above all .... being a dumbass!

Next time put a solar panel on your bikes, tell her the pedals are just foot rests.
If she stops you again, tell her you don't remember the prior conversation, and ask her
if she's harrassing a disabled person.
Maybe she just doesn't like beards.
Tell her your bikes are specially designed wheel-chairs built for balance therapy, and
ask her if she's harrassing a disabled person.
Ask her what the hell she's doing wielding a fossil-fuel gas guzzler in a nature preserve.
Sounds to me like you kept your cool, I never knew that bicycle riding was eco-unfriendly before.

That's some great tips but I'll have to get a federal ID card for that. You know.. one of those 'American With Disability' cards. Should be easy though. After all they hand them out as easily as the disabled tags for handicapped parking! I've seen teens with those. They sprint across the parking lot after parking!

CDRIVE, I think you're one of the few left that doesn't have some kind of politically correct 'disability'.
In fact, I'm waiting for the government to classify us as a 'minority', because of our
political views.

Yeah, I was rejected from jury duty three times! It seems I'm so politically incorrect that neither the prosecution or defense wanted me anywhere near a courtroom!

I remember one case in particular. It involved a young Latino male that was charged with resisting arrest and assault on a female Sheriff's Deputy. The prosecution initially wanted me because when asked if any of us have family or friends in law enforcement I answered yes, quite a few. The prosecution's love affair with me was short lived though. The defense had eliminated me at the get go though.

At one point in the screening process the prosecution asked the jury pool if any of us had issues or bias toward female officers. Absolutely no one raised their hand including me. The screening procedure proceeded with details of the charge and other questions to the pool. During this time I was stewing over that question and was very disappointed with myself. Redemption was only 20 minutes away though.

About an hour into the screening the Judge asked if there was anyone who had any questions, comments or wanted to change or add anything to any of the statements given. I raised my hand and proceeded to tell the Judge that it's my opinion that a minor domestic infraction was probably escalated solely because the deputy was female. When asked to elaborate I stated that machismo in the Latin community is alive and well. A young Latino Buck was not about to loose face by being restrained by a female. The Judge then asked if anyone else had second thoughts on this. Hands started popping up and it was most of the males. The women however glared at me like I was a knuckle dragging Neanderthal.

In the end the entire pool was considered tainted and summarily dismissed. I walked around the corner to a bar known for really frosty beer and good poppers. I remember looking into the mirror behind the bar and seeing a smiling face quite pleased with himself! ;)

The fact is that modern culture is so screwed up (PC) that young males of any culture don't know if they should be courting girls or giving them a right cross. When I was young there were no Hollywood female super heroes, super cops or what not. Men & boys knew there role and so did women and girls. I liked it that way!

Yep, things are pretty screwed-up, and getting worse.
ALL I hear at work and elsewhere is that I need to 'Value Diversity'.
Like you found-out though, it's just a PC feel-good phrase. As soon as you actually
mention the diversity you see (macho cultures), you're in trouble with the PC crowd.
I was born in Detroit and worked there for years after I got out of the service. In the early 1980's
my work had locations outside city high schools. I would REGULARLY see the boys
there beat the heck out of their girlfriends on the way to school, then they'd get all
huggy-kissy before going in the school doorway. I was told that was the culture. Now
it's evolved into I'm supposed to 'value' other people's cultures, ....
I pray we get over this 'diversity' stuff and start working on some 'assimillation' pretty soon.

Yes Harald, I re-read shrtrnd's post and it certainly deserves kudos. As he says I should milk the PC crap and the senior thing for all it's worth. I can hardly wait for my next encounter. The Ranger will think she's addressing the founding father of Green Peace! On that note I hope Russia reams the Pirates of the drilling platform and impounds their vessel forever! ;)
