  1. HI AUDIOGURU! A BOOK ON PHYSICS BY "RESNICK AND HALLIDAY" SHOWS A CAPACITOR BEING USED IN A MEDICAL DEFEBRILLATOR BY A DOCTOR AND THEN IT EXPLAINS ITS ANALOGY WITH THE SPRING.HOW IS A CAPACITOR DIFFERENT FROM A BATTERY IN OPERATION? (MORE SPECIFICALLY A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY) CAN IT REPLACE A CAPACITOR IN CIRCUITS? ::) PRATEEK
  2. HI THERE! professionally and commercially made testers are already in market by companies like TESEC and KEITHLEY. HEY! MULTIMETERS ARE ALSO TESTERS? ::) PRATEEK
  3. i wish to get an idea for a sensor ! which people should see to get the o/p.it should not give out any source of its own.Flashing light is not the property if the sensor. Moreover i dont wish to make people blind for this stupid project. ;D prateek
  4. hi audioguru! that means a voltage divider bias instead of a fixed bias can serve as a reversible transistor amplifier? :o Although this is just a part of my interest, i know that for a very good quality attenuator i need just a pot!!! :) prateek
  5. i know that i have to use some kind of decoder which changes the hardisk file to mp3 format but i dont have much knowledge about them and even dont know what kind of hardware or software i need for it. :'( prateek
  6. HI ALL! LET US CONSIDER A TRANSISTOR OPERATING IN ACTIVE REGION AS AN AMPLFIER.IT IS IN COMMON EMITTER CONFIG.IT HAS A GAIN OF SAY 50.I APPLY 1mV signal at i/p and i get 50mV at the collector.what would happen if i now apply a 50 mV signal at the collector?will it attenuate the signal?what do you think will it give 1mV at the base? Now the main thing .I have noticed that it does give 1mV at the base .it is surprising.I too was surprised that we cant have a reversed transistor operation. But when i carefully monitored the signal, the frequency of the signal was not the same as the one i had applied at the collector.tomorrow i am going to simulate it on ORCAD .any explanations? ::) prateek
  7. hi spacifique, audioguru! i too have heard about such batteries(basically put to use in watches) but dont have much information aboit it.It is aslso known that such batteries have very long lives.anything more u know plz tell me too. ::) prateek
  8. hi there! what would u like to call such a system? a simulator or device tester? one of them is available as ORCAD capture and the other as a good quality multimeter. ;D prateek
  9. yes audioguru! through my post i wished to state that broadly, frequency control the most important part for a filter is mainly governed by RC time constant and not the physical arrangement of the components.Basically our aim to pass a signal through a filter can be attained by relative high or low cutoff freq of the filter wrt signal .Any way, what frequencies are considered as low ,for design of filters?any idea? :) prateek
  10. hi alun! I too have heard about these types but just heard! :D i think the light will still reflect from our retina even if we are looking at some other place.I mean it should sense it when we look at it.Is it possible or we have to become all SUPERMANS! as audioguru said! 8) prateek
  11. hi audioguru! i just wish to know is it the market which labels it as class A and class B ? or it is upto us to operate it in any region depending upon our application. prateek
  12. hi there! even in this ckt, a high value of RC time constant makes its cutoff freq lower i.e high pass while very low RC makes cutoff freq high i.e low pass filter. So its just a game of RC! while most people think that positioning of R&C makes difference although the easiest method is to exchange their places. :) prateek
  13. hi audioguru! yeah! same the case with me too! can u believe that mathematics still says its possible even when there is no place for 1 million labourers to stand,it is the population of an average city in india!
  14. hi all! Does anyone have the idea about class of an amplifier.i know that there are class A,class B,class C amplifiers depending on the region of their operation. But i wish to know that is it upto the user to operate the transistor in any region or do we purchase it by the name of say "class A amplifier purchase" prateek
  15. HI audioguru! i feel that RC time constant chosen depends on the application you are putting the filter into and the type of filter.recently i saw a timer circuit in which RC time constant was as high as 5s .i have seen circuits with time constant as low as 2-3 micro seconds. One of the book on analog electronics says the famous quote: "IT IS THE TIME CONSTANT WHICH DIFFENTIATES A HIGH PASS AND LOW PASS CIRCUITS AND NOT EXACTLY THE POSITION OF R&C" BY CHOSING R&C OF EXTREME MAGNITUDES YOU CAN CONVERT HIGH PASS TO LOW PASS AND VICE VERSA TOO!! :o so i feel time constant depends on application whats ur view? ::) prateek
  16. hi there! IF U WISH TO BUILD A HOUSE .AND U KNOW THAT 1 LABOURER WILL BUILD IT IN 10 DAYS.SO 10 LABOURERS WILL BUILD IT IN 1 DAY, AND SO IF U PUT ABOUT 1 MILLION LABOURERS IT WILL BE BUILT IN LESS THAN A SECOND!!!!!!! BELIEVE ME GUYS,IT IS TRUE MATHEMATICIAN WILL HAVE NO OBJECTION TO IT BUT A PHYSICIST,ENGINEER ETC THOSE WHO REALIZE MORE PRACTICAL ISSUES THEY WONT AGREE TO IT! IT IS IMPOSSIBLE! ;D PRATEEK
  17. HI ALL! ONCE WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY MADE TOUCH SENSORS USING SWITCHES, PIEZOELECTRIC CRYSTALS ,POTS ETC AND EVEN PROXIMITY SENSORS USING LIGHT RAYS AND ALSO MAGNETIC FILELD,HOW FAR WE ARE FROM THE SIGHT SENSOR THAT GIVES OUTPUT WHEN WE LOOK AT IT.IS ANYONE WORKING OVER IT? :-\ PRATEEK
  18. HI THERE! IT IS DESTRUCTIVE ,BUT I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND ONE THING.WILL THE SPARK BE PRODUCEDE BY APPLYING HIGH VOLTAGE ?SUPPLYING ENERGY HELPED WATER MOLECULE TO BREAK UP ,NOW THE SPARK WILL IGNITE THE HYDROGEN? PRATEEK
  19. HEY all of you! can u believe me nothing is required(hardware) for such a project but just a few LEDs and that too during the debugging of the simple software u write for it.although some hardware may be required if u wish to have automation.but if the attendant is ready to push a computer key, then that can easily increment car count in my software written in "C" and can also be decremented,at every key my software checks if the count has reached the parking place limit,if it has, then send a high at computer port which is sufficient to switch on a LED or a relay(for an alarm)HOWZ THAT? ;) prateek
  20. hi audioguru ! i guess audioguru is right.mp3 players have a limited memory.Yes, one thing can be done .Now i have hit upon an idea, can we interface the mp3 player with my harddisk?then i can have quality music and number of songs i.e both quality and quantity.if not harddisk upto 40 or 80 GB,can i atleast attach a small memory stick with the player? bye the way how much memory does the player has for its own? prateek
  21. hi nalen! i had asked exactly the same question in a topic called "SONGS" in circuits/design section of this site although u can directly search for "songs". I wish to have a player in my pocket with a large harddisk so that i can store 100s of songs.what i got out of the replies was to design a small card(motherboard)with just a sound card slot and just a small processor(i dont need a big one)ofcourse it needs to have a hard disk slot and an earphone slot. if u get any reply plz do mail it to me,plz prateek

HI ASAHIN! ARE U WELL AWARE OF THE PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES C AND C++ OR JAVA. IT IS AS SIMPLE TASK TO WRITE A PROGRAM IN C OR C++ FOR LCD INTERFACING.IT IS ALSO AVAILABLE ON THIS SITE THE PIN CONFIGURATION OF AN LCD.SO WRITE DOWN THE PROGRAM,CONNECT LCD ON PRINTER PORT AND GO AHEAD!! PRATEEK ;D
  23. exactly! why like a piece of wire ? it is a piece of wire in its analogy with inductor also which is definitely a piece of wire for dc and similar is case with cap and ac. prateek
  24. hi all! do u have any knowledge about what these levels mean? plz help reply!!!! prateek
  25. hi all! i just now had a look at this topic. well i have confirmed this thing now from a book by "MILLMAN TAUB " that displacement current through a capacitor is a 100% fictitious current.actually the engineers are forced to suppose this in support of Maxwell's equations .If it is not supposed then the Maxwell's equation wont hold true.Actually, there is no current through the capacitor!!!!it just charges and stops!!.the same phenomena makes us say that capacitor is open for pure dc and short for pure ac.because as audioguru said.pure dc without "R" in circuit will charge the capacitor in 0 time. :)prateek
