If it was sold as a toy, it will probably not use components that will allow you to tweak more sensitivity from the circuitry. You would literally be rebuilding the device. But that is only speculation on my part without being able to see the circuit. Perhaps you can map out the components from the circuit board. This is called reverse engineering. If you can do this, you would be able to know what you have to work with.
