michael0471 Posted August 22, 2004 Report Share Posted August 22, 2004 ??? my laptop power supply was hit its a delll inspiron 5000 now discouvered two diodes knocked out one i found the replacement the other i can't because i don't know the colour code, on board it reads 'pzd' the colours on it' appaers BROWN (broad ring) brown (center) green on the other end. Kevin Weddle Posted August 22, 2004 Report Share Posted August 22, 2004 Use a 12volt source and a 10kohm resistor. The voltage of the zener will be apparent. Are you sure it's bad? A diode will often display the resistance that surrounds it, thus measuring a low voltage. Zeners will display a voltage under low currents so you don't have to worry about testing it.
