audioguru
Hi Guys,Update:The project is here:http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/science/018/index.htmlThe AAA alkaline battery cells on the first two units that I made more than 5 months ago have dropped below 1.0V each. The units were still flashing brightly. The batteries didn't last as long as I thought maybe because I like to see them flash brightly so I don't water the plants as often as I should!Another reason the batteries failed early is because these ones were a "clearance" sale. I discovered that their manufacturer went bankrupt 5 years ago! Old new batteries. The rest of the units I made about 5 months ago are still fine with their original "new" Eveready Energizer batteries, except one cell died very early. They should last about 1 year. The ordinary tinned copper probes looked dirty and felt rough. I sandpapered them and re-tinned them and now they look like new.
