Shut off timer

Recommended Posts

Hi Falsh,
Welcome to our forum.
I would just take a cheap LED alarm clock and replace its beeper with a small audio isolation transformer. Then I would rectify and filter the beeping pulses into a DC voltage that I would feed to a Triac that switches the electrical outlet for the lamp to the mains.
Since alarm clocks continue beeping for about one and a half hours, I would need to dig into the clock's circuitry to shut it off sooner.
Wiring things like this to the mains requires safety and insulation skills.  ;D

The main thing, and what audioguru has pointed out, is that you will need a clock of some sort. You can look for a clock circuit or use a microcontroller if you are familiar with them. Once you have the clock circuit or a 24 hour timer, you just have to count pulses to turn on or off a relay.

I have posted a circuit which might be a start for you. You will want to modify it to give you all of the features needed.
