FlipFlop
Hi,I want to know if a transformer less powre supply can be configued to supply enough current to drive a 12V relay.ThanksFlipFlop ???
ante
Hi FlipFlop,If you are going to power a relay, why not just use a 120 or 240V relay instead?
Guest Alun
I agree with Ante, but relays with mains coils are often bulky and expensive.A simple ballast can be constructed using a bridge rectifier and a capacitor. What voltage and frequency is your power supply? What's the resistance of the relay's coil? FlipFlop
Thanks for the advice guys. But what I want to elemenate from the poewrsupply is the bulky transformer. At times one needs to make the circuit as compact as one can. Circuits for transformerless power supplies can be found on the net but the problem with them is that they only give out 15mA current at 12v, so I need a circuit that can solve the current problem.FlipFlop ;D
ante
Hi FlipFlop,What kind of load (AC, DC, A & V) is the relay suppose to switch? Most standard relays, even small once can be found with 120 and 240VAC coils. Or maybe you like to power something more than the relay from 12V? 8)
