making auto path sensor robot

hi ,frnds ,as a part of my b.tech, i would like to know wat ar the design procedures for making an auto path sensor movable structure, i.e it should run as long it gets i/p to its receiver led there by taking right turn,then again sending signal via i/r transmitter and receiving.

This is actualy quite easy if you brake it down into the following:-

Sensor,
processor,
motor control,
Track.

the simplest vresion is as follows
the track is a black line on white paper.
Black absorbs light and white reflects (simple so far)
sensor has two emitters and two sensors mounted a follows - S,E,E,S
when switched on the emitters emit light .
place "BUG" (device) on white paper.
The sensors recive reflected light from the emitters and motors go forward.
When bug crosses black line no light is recived in one sensor and the motor on that side stops.

what i want is
that  it should continue in motion till it gets a signal reflected from front wall ,then makes a right turn  sends signal again  ,if no reception continues to move till intercepted by  wall
