Cheap dual op amp IC with a maximum output current of 100mA that works below 2.4V or +-1.2V? ???
I want to build a portable preamp (also to be used as a headphone amp) that is very small and simple.
The batteries are GP AA NiCd 800mAh.

Hi Xtp,
Opamps don't supply much current. There are some tiny surface-mount power amp ICs for earphones that operate from a low voltage and use a voltage doubler circuit for their power supply. They are nearly impossible to solder.
You could use an MC34119 8-pin ordinary-size IC that has two power amps bridged for fairly high power at a supply voltage down to 2V. I think you will use it with 3V or more for your earphones to be loud enough. ;D
