xtp Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Cheap dual op amp IC with a maximum output current of 100mA that works below 2.4V or +-1.2V? ???I want to build a portable preamp (also to be used as a headphone amp) that is very small and simple. The batteries are GP AA NiCd 800mAh. audioguru Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Hi Xtp,Opamps don't supply much current. There are some tiny surface-mount power amp ICs for earphones that operate from a low voltage and use a voltage doubler circuit for their power supply. They are nearly impossible to solder. You could use an MC34119 8-pin ordinary-size IC that has two power amps bridged for fairly high power at a supply voltage down to 2V. I think you will use it with 3V or more for your earphones to be loud enough. ;Dmc34119.pdf Quote
