Guest Alun
Here's something I designed when I was bored, it isn't finnished (and probably never will be).Anyone who can guess how it works deserves a gold star, and the experts like MP and audioguru please don't spoil this for others. ;DVoltage_phase_control.pdf
audioguru
Hee, hee. ;D Nice clever circuit, Alun. ;D
Guest Alun
Thanks audioguru,I've been thinking about this in the back of my mind for awhile but up until now I haven't actually put pen to paper (or mouse to computer in this case). I was surprised at how simple the circuit is, most voltage controlled dimmers use micorcontrollers, I can't believe this hasn't been done before! EdwardM
Hi AlunI almost feel a competition coming on, how few components are absolutely necessary for a VCD?Ed ;D
Guest Alun
There is an easier way, you just use a normal lamp dimmer circuit with a LDR instead of the potentiometer and an LED illuminating it but this isn't as reliable or repeatable. ante
Hi Alun,No offence, this is just something to compare with! ;DMuch more complicated!DC_cont._dim.pdf
Guest Alun
And surprize surprize, it uses a PIC microcontroller! ;DThis is typical of the voltage controlled dimmers I was talking about before.
