Adapting a 220V transformer to 240V?

I have recently bought a power supply kit with a block type mains transformer of
Primary: 220V, 90 VA
Secondary: (24V, 3.5A) and (9V, 0.4A)
This kit is designed for European countries with mains voltage of 220V.
The problem here is I live in England & here the main voltage is 240V.
Is there any chance that I can use the transformer with 240V?
Is there anyway that I can test it under 240V without blowing it up? ???

Thank You

Hi Zeppelin,
The voltage difference is less than 10% so I don't think there will be a problem.
If you are worried about it, you could add a 20V transformer in series with its primary, wired in the opposite polarity to reduce its voltage to 220V.

I thought England changed their mains voltage to 230V as a compromise between their old 240V and the 220V used in Europe.
Can any Brit members confirm it?

Zeppelin,
If you check the manufacturer site for your transformer, you will most likely find the transformer is tested well above the 220 or 240 voltage of the mains. It should work perfectly fine.

The difference you will see is that the output is also different since the primary to secondary ratio is still the same. Depending upon the design of the regulator part of this project, this will either cause a little more heat in the regulators or give you a slightly different DC voltage level. Either is easily compensated.
