mlgrier3
I have two lines coming from a microswitch. One to +5V and the other to a digital IO port on a LabJack U12. When this microswitch closes I need to trigger a 12VDC/3A relay. Coil Rating: 12VDC, 75mA, 1500 Ohms. The relay is from Radio Shack model #: 275-206. For the +5V, I'm actually getting about 4V, and 50mA. Any ideas as to how I can accomplish this?
audioguru
Hi Migrier,You have a driving power of 4V x 50mA= 200mW available but the relay coil needs 12V x 75mA= 900mW. So your circuit doesn't provide enough power to drive the relay. Why not use a transistor or Mosfet instead of a relay?
