maarkr
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f335/Maarkr/switchbox.gifCan I set up a speaker selector switchbox using the ground as the switch to select the speaker pair?? If I run the L&R channels to all speaker outs and use a SPST switch to enable the ground for that speaker, should that work? Is there a way to put some kind of impedance protection in line? audioguru
You have a stereo amplifier and one wire from each speaker is connected to ground. If you disconnect both speakers from ground with a SPST switch but leave the speaker wires connected together then the speakers will play Left minus Right which is a form of surround sound. The speakers are still a load on the amplifier and they will sound weird when playing Left minus Right. If your amplifier is half-decent then it will limit the current to protect itself when it is overloaded.
