marcperl7
hi,I am doing a project title battery charging from a small power input. As small as 4V AC input voltage and aspected output of 2V.I have few q's.- what voltage regulator should i use??I prefer a small amount of input to the IC itself so that I can save the power to Voutput.thank you
audioguru
4VAC is rectified and filtered into 4.3VDC.An LM317 adjustable voltage or current regulator needs an input of at least 2VDC higher than its output for a voltage regulator and at least 3.3VDC higher than its output for a current regulator. You forgot to say which type of battery. For 2V then it is probably a lead-acid battery cell that is fully charged at 2.3V.You also forgot to say how much current. An LM317 is rated for up to 1.5A.
