goober
how do you up the wattage coming out of a power inverter? it has an input of 12v dc & an output of 120v ac. The transformer ups the voltage, so why do 300 watt inverters cost so much less than lets say 1500 watt inverters? Do i put a bigger transformer in an inverter to increase volts? Also i need more watts to run things, not more volts. I want to make an inverter that will put out a lot of watts to run more than one thing. Thanks ??? ??? ??? audioguru
An inexpensive little inverter produces exactly the same output voltage as an expensive huge 1500W one.But the 300W/120V one has an output current of only 2.5A and the 1500W/120V one has an output current of 12.5A.The 300W one uses cheap little transistors to switch only 30A from a 12V battery. The 1500W one uses many expensive powerful transistors to switch 150A from a 12V battery. The little 300W inverter might use a little 360W transformer. The big 1500W inverter might use a huge 1800W transformer.
