Bully
Has anyone attempted this project and how succesfull?
audioguru
5000W is ridiculous for a home-made amplifier. It has no output protection. It is very dangerous because its speakers are connected directly to the AC line voltage instead of using a normal isolated power supply. It uses twenty expensive output transistors that might not be available anymore and they will get extremely hot without some kind of high-tech cooling (liquid nitrogen?). Bully
Thanks for the reply.MJ and MJL are currently available at around R35.00That transformer can be substituted with an isolation type ( very large ).The constructor probably fitted thermal cut out switches direct to the heatsink because yes that is very hard work to get rid of that much heat and quite a strenous task for those transisors working into a 2 ohm load :oI think im gonna skip this one
audioguru
I think the project is a joke. You need only about 100W RMS per channel in your home to be very (extremely?) loud.5kW is used at an outdoors rock concert. The people up close are deafened.
vin_killah
thanks to the author of this project, it's really amazing! I've done this project as single channel.. Do you have any questions regarding this project? I can help you to build this one. ;D
