gtrplyr11
Hey guys,Im new on the forums and this is my first thread here :)Im want to purchase a solar charger for my zune 30GB mp3 player. The zune requires a 5V with 1.4A (which is believe is the max). There are a few solar chargers on ebay that varies output 5.1V- 6V and vary between 350mA to about 1A. What i need to know is can i buy something that outputs 5.5V & use it without blowing my zune... I know that as long as the current doesn't exceed 1.4A im safe, isn't that right??Thanks for help!!Jake
Hero999
It depends on how the charger works. If the actual charging circuitry is built-in to the Zune then all you is a power supply with a voltage of around 5.5V and a rated output current of 1.4A or more. The charger will just use as much current as it requires. The internal control circuitry should requlate the actual current supplied to the battery. If the charging circuitary is external to the Zune you need to buy the correct charger and using any other charger may damage the batteries.
