Schuyler
Newbie warning!I apologize if this question has been asked before. I have a 9V DC source and wish to power a 2V red LED at 20mA. Rather than using a standard (9-2)/0.02 = 350ohm resistor to limit current, is it acceptable to add two more 2V red LEDs in series (total of 3 LEDs) and use a (9-2-2-2)/0.02 = 150ohm resistor instead in order to achieve less heat dissipation from the resistor? Thanks for your assistance with this question. Hero999
Yes, why not?The only thin you need to beware of is the minimum operating voltage will now be 6V, rather than 2V but it will definitely last for longer.
