Diode that only allows continuity at 13.5v ?

As Bluejets advised "Power is applied to the lamp via the ignition switch and the ground return of the lamp connects to the "L" terminal." Does the light go when the key is on before starting the engine? What is the alternator brand" What is its part number? Can you post a photo of the...

Matching CT & Analog Ammeter for long distance Between them

Probably got this completely wrong, so feel free to disregard. Are you trying to feed the output from a CT to an analogue ammeter 500m away? That would be a return trip of 1000m/1km. Wouldn't the voltage drop be horrendous, so that there would be very little current flow? Would it be...

Trying to reconfigure this jump start/peripheral connector cable thing

Really confused now. Can you draw a wiring diagram of the circuit? What is the lead used for?

Trying to reconfigure this jump start/peripheral connector cable thing

Automotive electrician, but confused about what this lead is and what you want to do with it. Is the "SAE connector" the 2-pin connector at top left, and "jump starter" a remote starter button at bottom left?

    VDO Voltmeter

Quick guess would be extra current required by the analogue VDO voltmeter compared to digital multimeter? Connect both the voltmeter and multimeter to the doubler, and then check the voltage reading on the multimeter.

    Automatic links

Does LM 3914 automatically add the links? Looks like it doesn't. LM3914 will probably get the link?

    Ammeter Span adjustment

I assume this is out of a marine dash panel? The meter requires the correct external 60mv shunt to operate. The meter and shunt must have the same rating. Example: A 100A shunt will have a 60mv drop across it with a current of 100A. A meter calibrated for 100A will go to full scale at 60mv...

    Comedy Thread

It is amazing how the jumbled up words above are readily understandable. Wonder how easy it is to read by those who don't have English as their first language?

    Help with Relay, LED, Components....

What brand of gauge? I would guess that the LED is an alternator warning light. Probably also has a resistor in parallel to increase the current to simulate a 2W bulb to excite the alternator.

12v 5a PWM, how to test

The red LED is labelled as Alarm, so looks like there is a problem. Q1 - Is the green LED also on, or just the red? Q2 - Does the green LED light up without the motor connected? Q3 - Is the wiper motor installed in a vehicle?

    Making the connection

Sorry, but I have to strongly disagree with you there. Those bullet connectors when crimped correctly, like the red wire is, are very good. I would also not recommend soldering. They are not fully waterproof, but do give quite good protection. Very common connector in Asian automotive equipment...

    Replacement relays?

Polarity of DC relay coil doesn't matter unless there is a diode across the coil for suppression(BEMF).

    Identifying input polarity

"By the way, the company that produces the device refuses to give out any information." Don't you just love these sorts of companies? Really makes you want to go out and buy more of their "quality" products.

Wire rating for HID headlight ballast

Auto sparky here. I would use 2mm² 14AWG wire. Larger wire adds mechanical strength, as well as reducing the chance of any possible voltage drop. 20Amp fuse between battery and relay. Fuse close to battery. As suggested, separate wires to each ballast with 5Amp fuses. 2mm² earth wire to clean...
