    On pin9 on U1 IC there should be pulses from the opto pickup. I would just power the servo board & check for pulses from the opto first.

    Have a look at the circuit its the same as the bike I had. A Honda NC50, 4000rpm 8.5v @ .7A. 6000rpm 8.7V 2 A. It doesn't take mutch load to simulat battery load with battery removed. It worked on my Honda NC50.

    Is some years now but I had a Honda bike like that. My fix was a 10 ohm 20Watt resistor in place of the battery.

    Some SMPS have a gap in the center Ecore, if you don't have that gap it changes how the transformer reacts.

    The transformer in my post is only 50x45x25MM fairly small. Its an iron core 240v to 20v CT, I made it to run a CDI unit I built for a generator that had a faulty CDI. Why would you want to pause the oscillator?? you just disconnect the power to it.

    I would suspect there is a problem with the powersupply. Ive just checked several, & they all give a stable voltage with no signs of pulsing you have, this is with no load connected.

    The only meter that may need protecting is the 5V meter. Just add a 6V 5watt zenner diode across the meter to protect it.
