    The slightly scorched parts of the board is not uncommon. But a description of whats not actualy working would be good. One area that is likely to be faulty is relays & connectors associated with switching mains voltage. Check for dry (cracked) solder joints.

    Pretty sure the 3 blue wires are the primary windings, I would be checking at the conector, not piercing the wires. Can you acess the conector with the control panel off? If not I would run 3 temporary wires from the conector to the outside of the genny when assembled for a test.

    These type of generators the only diference betwean the 240v & 120v models is the main windings & the Inverter board. On the circuit I posted the voltage shown for the main winding is for a 240V model. The 120v one will obviously be lower. These generators you DO NOT try & flash like older types.

    Check the diode that feeds the 12v to pin7, is it ok? Not sure about the test on the transistor. If in doubt I just replace them as they are so cheep.

    The small capacitor is critical in the startup phase, & it must be the same value that's in your circuit. Good capacitors are essential in a switch mode powersupply.

    This circuit is from the chip specs & is a typical type. Your voltage on the 400V capacitor sounds too low if your mains is 240v Ac. I would replace that capacitor & the little one which goes to pin7 VDD on the chip as this is important for the chips powersupply which is around 12v dc.

    Generaly on thermal type meters there should be a mechanical calibration adjustment on the instrument. Pictures are from Mitsubishi Pajero temp gauge. This particular gauge has 2 adjustments indicated by arrows from end of biro.
