    So what's the difference between 12v at 1a and 1v at 12a?

Which would you rather feel on your back side for a minute of torture if given the choice, and why? Still trying to understand this "electricity" stuff

    Basic Volts vs watts question

Newb electronics question here. Does wire care about volts as much as it cares about amps? I'm thinking about plugging that female 12v cig lighter directly into the 120v wall spliced to a scrap wall plug to power a 12v car lighter tire inflator. The appropriate adapter sold only is available...

    What tool do I need?

what's the best tool for soldering and de-soldering? I've only used those cheap irons which always need cleaning and don't get hot enough. I've seen little torches that I think are advertised for soldering, I suppose I'm looking for something with hot heat and small focal area so I don't burn...

    How to de-solder?

Will this ever work? I've been at it forever and I'm wondering if this basic iron is sufficient. I think I've done it before with a iron like this. What's the trick?

Want to re-do soldered connections to plug-N-play

I want to bridge the top and the bottom rows and reconnect the red to the top row without soldering. I want to be able to plug and un-plug at will. What do I need? Let's do this

How to reconnect ebike battery wires to work with different bike?

So my bike and battery is the "EcoE" one. The "Eskute" battery was just a better deal for this 48v battery, but I didn't know eskute wired it different. Idk much about this stuff but for some reason many batteries like these use more than one terminal per +/- but with my plan to make the...

Want a particular switch to cutoff my auto ac from my stick shift.

I'm thinking something with two buttons, open/closed that I can stick independently on the stick knob where my fore and middle fingers can access. Something small with I can stick on it. Is there something like this or something "bare bones" and small I can fabricate to stick onto the...

How to test this 24v 13" Worx Mower

I tried testing with a Milwaukee 18v figuring I might get something got nothing nor did I get any ohms from it. I tested it from two positions of the only switch I found on it. No reading for resistance usually means it's dead no? It's an old model.

How would you go about testing this port without its adapter?

I've got a variable power adapter with various tips but just not for this port. Is there a common makeshift method to use in place of the right adapter?

How would you diagnose a cordless keyboard?

I have a nice one with good batteries but won't turn on. Or at least the light won't come on. I'm assuming it's not turning on. Do you check between the battery(aaa) terminals on and off positions for something in particular? Do you open it up and drop some solder on a funky spot and/or...

What do you suppose the amps are for this solar charger?

It pulls 20v and what must be like less than an amp cuz it's doing nothing for my motorcycle battery. But it should at least maintain I'm thinking but if anything over sometime shopping and what not the volts are going nowhere. I can't remember what I got this for. I thought it was battery...

How come these alligator clips only transfer electricity when swapped at the battery terminals?

If input the clips on their respective terminals it won't work. And the positive part of this configuration on the barrel connector is on the outside. Not sure what they usually are. I don't recall doing anything with these clips. I can tell you they came with a solar trickle charger product and...

Trying to reconfigure this jump start/peripheral connector cable thing

Hey so I gather at least this whole arrangement is "in series" right? Tell me if you don't know what you're looking at but I'm assuming you guys understand this stuff way more than me. So I wanna remove the jump starter part to this thing, and keep the SAE connector part. And I'm thinking I...

    Are these helmet headsets salvageable?

These both died after charging them. I might have used a different charging cable that caused this to happen. Idk. Maybe they just suck. They're over a year old and I didn't use them that much during the time. They were stored in my garage the last 7 months or so though so maybe there's more...

Anyone familiar with this USB charging cable?

I thought it would just be another male USB plug so in order a male to male but they're all data transfer only. Might this type of charging cable go to a micro USB male plug that goes into like a power bank or would this just be a proprietary plug I'll only find the original to work?

Looking for a suitable universal charger for a variety of electronics

I resell various electronics that odmt always have the power cords on them so I'm wanting something that'll be able to fit the largest variety of stuff and so far I've only seen universal chargers of a single wattage and from what I understand you need the wattage to be correct but can it be a...

Having trouble getting power to heated motorcycle grips

I'm trying to connect them with these "sae quick connect" cables so I spliced the bare ends(as they arrived) with a spare pair of these cables to my grips. I can get power via alligator clips connected to the quick connect end directly to the battery but connecting via the cables strangely...

Want to have a connector box for various devices on motorcycle

Rather than having to splice and un-splice ever time I add something or remove something. Is the some kind of box I can install and at most have to crimp connector ends to bare wires to fit the box, I imagine it would be a lot easier and neater. I know little of electronics bare in mind. Any...
