    Motor varnish used to be used but it's more likely epoxy based these days. A dab of 5 minute epoxy should suffice. Clean up used to use Shellite or white spirits.

    You'll likely make matters worse as the contacts usually have a coating of possibly silver which you will remove. Best to track down the actual cause rather than poke at possibilities.

    Being open close device, I would tend to suspect any local limit switches used in normal operation. These would tend to be fairly open to the elements and worth checking.

    As I said previously, it seems out of the ordinary to use a 9v memory backup. Usually one find a 3v lithium coin battery doing the job.

    Panel can only supply it's maximum output........battery can handle near 8A charge. Don't see the problem.
