    Power supply with current output

There are adjustable constant current output. I built a small one to charge nicad cells using an LM317 regulator and a 15V dc plug pack. Output current can be adjusted anywhere from 50mA up to 500mA and from 1 to 8 nicad cells.

Position of Thermal Cutoff (Hi-limiter) in circuit

Switching the neutral is not normally accepted. Unit is covered by having a double pole switch and I'm guessing the unit plugs in to a power point. Servicing anything while still plugged in would be a no-no anyhow. In Aus at least, any electrical equipment should have a c-tick somewhere to show...

Battery Tender Charger Model #021-0128 Blown Component?

No worries, just I don't stick my neck out for anyone. Nothing personal. Over 55 years working as electrician have seen many times...." but he said....." Always keep clear of any possible reprisals. BTW....one hand thing is an old wives tale and according to workplace health and safety, no...

Simple, or so I thought. Creating circuit to transform 24vac control to 12vdc.

Cause possibly somewhere in the complete circuit diagram which you do not show. There have already been a couple of requests. It has to be feedback somewhere , perhaps in the way you have the outputs connected. Bear in mind the units were made for a one of isolated load. A start would be to...

So I assume it was dry joints somewhere in the module...??

Battery Tender Charger Model #021-0128 Blown Component?

Difficult to give you training on something that I did a 5 year apprenticeship on and a further 5 years night school and correspondence to complete. Cannot recommend anyone without the appropriate training around mains operated devices, sorry. Took many years to accumulate my belongings to have...

Simple, or so I thought. Creating circuit to transform 24vac control to 12vdc.

Can you post a link to these so called "24vac to 12vdc" converters? Also show a photo of the thermostats you are using and if possible any manual/specs on them as well. Usual problem uploading photos is they are too large, resize any to around 200kb.

Battery Tender Charger Model #021-0128 Blown Component?

If you had more experience in electronics you might be able to take an educated guess using surrounding components but as it stands, too difficult to diagnose from a distance. Then you would also need to determine if surrounding components were the cause of the failure or not.

Battery Tender Charger Model #021-0128 Blown Component?

Afraid not. You'd need Scotty off "Star Trek" with a particle reconstruction ray to decipher that lot. About the only chance would be to peek inside a working unit. If you have any experience in and around mains connected gear you might have one chance in a thousand of getting some idea with...

    FR & RF Thermal fuse.

Saw a listing that had both....(down bottom of the listing) .....no idea the difference though, if any. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283256837442

    Old module does not work

Sounds about right for most but it depends on the job and the tip. Finer with small tip less, bulky tracks /wiring with a large chisel tip perhaps a bit more. Maximum heat I've ever needed to use would be up around 320C (600f) soldering tin plate fuel tanks for rc aircraft.:eek:

Battery Tender Charger Model #021-0128 Blown Component?

Looked up the S814 series of cmos voltage regulators and there is a 3 pin type with SOT-89-3 case same as yours BUT....... without the suffix numbers there is little chance of finding the correct one. They range in output from 2v up to 6v. pdf link below..... Appear to be low dropout regulator...

Battery Tender Charger Model #021-0128 Blown Component?

Fourth leg, possibly centre, usually common with top tab. U1 is a microcontroller and would work on 5v. U3 I cannot see the numbers and U5 is possibly a switcher for the power supply. Can you post a photo of the other side of the board please.

    Opto....anything to charge small battery?

As I said, it depends on what supply you have (pv) and if you have just one or more 18650. This board below should cover most of what you need for a couple of dollars. Don't be put off by the 2A, that is just maximum rate. They should be available just about anywhere, so shop around , probably...

    Opto....anything to charge small battery?

Once again, there are off-the-shelf option open to you but more information would be required such as battery size (electrical) current draw of the load , type and size of the pv array.

Need to place sensors 100ft deep in water. Wire terminations, wire, etc.

There are epoxies specifically designed for such a purpose. Look for electrical cast resin underground cable jointing kits. 3M is one manufacturer and there are many others.
