Electric motor on planer quits running after 1 minute

I thought the same thing....:):) Curious if it is included in house insurance over where you are ( motor burnout). Usually is here in Aus for a couple of dollars extra. Only drawback here is they refuse to cover if the motor is over 7 years old.

Looking good. Saw a write up where the test voltage (25v) was out. Don't know if it relates to yours or not. http://www.wb0smx.net/?p=2550 Heaps of info out there if you ever get stuck so a really good one to work on. Had several old pieces of test gear from the 40's and 50's I gave away to...

    Barrel jack on playstation VR

The two prongs are the circular inner connection only totally wrecked and missing the insulation sleeve. Could cause a short when you plug in the power unit, who knows. All that is known is it's defective.

Drive an heating element for an homemade oven.

Perhaps just simply use a 2000W element from a standard convection oven which are designed to run red hot. Again though, there may be limits on the run time as they normally cut out when the oven gets to around 350F.

Electric motor on planer quits running after 1 minute

Discolouration is the Run winding which has been hot as, probably a shorted turn. Did notice , if one looks closely, where the top inner start winding enters the slot at around 9 0"clock in your photo, appears like a blow and fragments of copper. Some household insurance policies cover motor...

    Transformer Current Output

Google is a wonderful thing....... First to come up was the link below. Turns out to be 9v centre tap @ 2 Amp. https://reverb.com/au/item/25038710-vintage-archer-273-1515b-or-lei-60leib-002-transformer-9v-0-9v-2a?locale=en-AU I usually just load them up with auto bulbs ( cheap as) until the...

Electric motor on planer quits running after 1 minute

Good move. If you promise to sit in the corner and not bug the hell out of the repairer, they may even let you sit and watch. Then again, these days with workshop health and safety, it's probably a no no to even let you in the workshop door. Gets more like an operating room every day.

Need Solution to Control Engine Speed

I imagine the first approach would be to filter out any noise as all the required hardware is possibly already in place.

    LM338 Voltage and Power Questions

This may be true but if this is the case, switching only the neutral is not allowable. See #27. If the unit is hardwired ,(permanently wired into the house wiring system) single pole switch is allowed but then the switch must be in the active conductor.

    LM338 Voltage and Power Questions

Actually, any portable device run on a lead and plug should use double pole switching as there is never any certainty whether an outlet or the plug is correctly wired.

Electric motor on planer quits running after 1 minute

Good job on the photos...excellent. Link to your model for an exploded view. https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/1zztsstp5c-000247/craftsman-11312310-power-tool-parts Appears to be a sealed motor so I withdraw my comment on hornets nest being a possible culprit. Most times this would...

    measuring output current circuit ?

No, you will end up winding it around and shorting out everything. If measuring small currents, (mA up to 200mA) you can use a multimeter in series with the load. Most multimeters have a 10 Amp range for higher currents but you need to move one of the probes to the appropriate terminal on the...

    Precor Treadmill controller help

220v dc motor running from 120v ac is going to take some serious gear,,,both to run and control speed sure there wasn't a power tranny hidden down under the machine somewhere.? For a milling machine, I'd be looking for a simple old everyday AC motor.

    LM338 Voltage and Power Questions

Love the old style gauges. Remember Dad had similar looking in his auto workshop switchboard which came out of a WW2 bomber of some description. I'd have thought the T03 style cases would have a higher dissipation rate. I still prefer the much more efficient switching regulators.
