    Questions lithium polymer battery

I'd be giving the lipo a swerve and chuck in a sealed lead acid with a converter if you need a different voltage from the standard pd. These things have been reliable in alarm systems for donkey's years.

A simple LED light night switch

There are some that will argue, making it yourself is the way to learn. My argument for that is, buy the elcheapo unit, reverse engineer it and one is in front on two levels.

A simple LED light night switch

There are Arduino style modules on Ebay, both with LDR and LED input for around $1.50 with an onboard comparitor and adjustment for input light levels. At AU$1.50, it would be less outlay than just the parts alone...

Make illuminated switch light up dim when off then normal when switched on

Ahhh....Ok...so.... 1/4w carbon film resistor is the standard old run of the mill resistor. As your first line of "type to buy" says, the values range from 1 ohm to 1000 ohm (1K) You will find though that resistors normally come in packs of perhaps a thousand or so and include values from 1...

    Questions lithium polymer battery

Ahha.....not lipo's then. Yes, I have seen Sanyo nicads last extremely long periods. Back in the 80's when flying RC aircraft, it was a common practice to chuck out the nicads after 2 years. They were relatively cheap then and 2 years of cycling would see a slight depreciation but not too much...

Make illuminated switch light up dim when off then normal when switched on

Resistors are shown above as 1K and 10K. Unless you are using the exact same LEDs then probably require a different value. Wattage of the resistors would depend on the current draw of the LED. Diode the same, any old gp diode such as a 4004 would probably be ok , current rating of it is 1A. No...

Appreciate the recommendation. I just wondered which brand you managed to get 22 years from without it puffing up like a blowfish.

    Questions lithium polymer battery

Getting the most out of lithium batteries usually means storing at around half capacity. Then when required, the battery is cycled and recharged to maximum. It depends on the source / quality of the battery in question but I doubt you will ever get full capacity. Storing for months might be ok...

using Diodes/NC switches as Motor Limit switches.

That is most likely because you are not an electrician or trained that way. May surprise you to know that even at my age, I can "see" the diagram in my mind long before I start to draw it out. Exception is when confronted with "rat's nest drawings". :):)

using Diodes/NC switches as Motor Limit switches.

Example......fairly standard in any schematic. KF is the coil of the relay energised via the "control circuit". In this instance, pushing the "F" button is all that is required to operate the coil. Well, that plus supply voltage....... KF-1 is the first set of contacts within that relay...
